Beyond Storage: Four Uses for Closet Spaces

By Kate Riley June 8, 2021

I was looking at the extra closet in my old home office, the one that’s filled with boxes of pictures and photo albums. If I digitize the photos and store the photo albums elsewhere, I could transform the closet into a beverage center or study spot which makes more sense since the space is used by my teenagers.

Of course one turns to the internet for research and to my delight I found more than just images of offices and wet bars, I came across clever mud rooms and reading nooks too. May I present the four uses I uncovered for closets, one’s that might serve a greater purpose for you beyond just storage. Note some of the images show niches but the design elements would work tucked into closets too.

1. Wet Bar/Beverage Centers

  1. Oh my, Katie! These are all gorgeous! If I only had a closet to spare!

  2. Or they can get their drinks from the kitchen like everyone else! And you can keep your real estate to yourself! 🤣🤣🤣
