2017 Year in Review

By Kate Riley December 31, 2017

I love the promise that a new year brings! The ability to start fresh with a clean slate and create a list of goals for the upcoming year.

I also love when blogs and websites publish their roundups in late December. Looking back on the year is an opportunity to reflect on accomplishments and it’s a way to catch up on something I may have missed. I appreciate all of your roundups and today I’m sharing mine, here are my top 12 from 2017.

Space Makeovers

master bedroom  / hall bathroom  / powder room  /  galley kitchen

DIY Projects

marble fireplace makeover  /  cheap & easy shiplap  / cyanotype art  / tiered plant stand

Design Articles

renovation mistakes & design “nevers” how to style a mantel with art  / closed cabinets v. open shelving / stack bond tile

When I look back on 2017 I see the spaces I’ve renovated, the DIY projects I completed, and also the design articles I’ve written, I feel honored to be one of the many voices in this ongoing conversation on home improvement and interior design. I am so grateful that you continue to read this blog and follow my adventures on social media as well.

My list of things to accomplish in 2018 is growing, I have space makeovers in progress and several trips already planned, plus a few DIY projects to complete. 2018 brings more of the same topics I’ve sharing through the years and I can’t wait to keep up with all of your creative ideas too.

Wishing everyone the Happiest New Year! Bring on 2018!

  1. If you Google Flip or Flop Laguna Beach kitchen, you will see a gorgeous stack bond that I am trying to duplicate in my kitchen remodel!

  2. Kate, I feel you are a trusted friend and an encouraging “nudge” to try something new. I’m not sure how many of your ideas I’ve ripped off, er, tried–but THANK YOU. And an extra thanks for recommending a lovely raincoat in a blog about things you travel with. I purchased it immediately and it’s already been on several trips–perfect! I’m wearing it today as it’s raining in SoCal.

    • Lovely to read this Jenni, thank you SO much for your comment, it means so much! Glad you love the raincoat!!
