Years ago I painted the center island in my white kitchen a pale gray green (Ben Moore’s ‘Camouflage’) and I’ve loved it ever since. Today I was at Home Depot beginning my search for cabinets for the kitchen at the flip house, and I’ve had green on my mind for some time.
I’m considering a white + gray/green cabinet combo using white cabinets above and greenish cabinets below. (Catch of the glimpse of the old kitchen cabinets here). I’m looking for a brand that offers a pale gray green and I found two potential candidates, Ocean Floor from Martha Stewart and the Zeus color by Decora, both are pale sage greens, the Martha color leans more gray. Decisions decisions…
Green is a beautiful choice for painted kitchen cabinets, it has an organic feel since it taps into the color we see most in nature. I’ve spied several kitchens popping up in designer spaces with cabinets painted in various shades of green. Most are brighter or deeper shades of green than I’m considering but all quite lovely.
Is green the new gray with kitchen cabinets? If so, I’m on board.
.
I favor the Martha Stewart design but the other is very sleek and modern.
I favor the Martha Stewart design but the other is very sleek and modern. Good luck with your decision, either will be beautiful.
Thanks Ming! The second image for Zeus is only the color, not the door style, but you’re right I do love a contemporary door fron too. :)
We just purchased a major cosmetic fixer upper, and I painted my kitchen cabinets a gray green. (A mix of SW Useful Gray and Analytical Gray) I love them…they look a little more gray in the day and a little more green at night.
sounds perfect Becky!
I used “Mexican Feather Grass” from the Ralph Lauren color line (I think it’s Benjamin Moore) and I love it. I used it on some walls. It was the first color I’ve used that looks exactly the way I expected it to after it was applied. I love the idea of doing my cabinets in a version of “griege”.
sounds beautiful Therese!
I painted our perimeter cabinets Northern Cliffs by Benjamin Moore which is a gray with lots of green undertones. And my island is white. It is hard to photograph the space and really pick up on the colors correctly because the camera wants to use the white island as its white balance which throws off the perimeter cabinets, but I do love how it turned out. http://www.suburbanbitches.com/kitchen-progress-update-the-reveal/
wow nicely done Erin!
I have always loved green in my decor – everything from blue greens to gray greens. The kitchen in the third image is to die for! I can’t wait to see your progress on the flip.
thanks Kim!
I like both of your choices! I love green cabinets, but I am happy with my white. Who can forget the fabulous green kitchen on Fixer Upper last season? Emily Clark just did green cabinets in her kitchen and a couple of others I’m thinking of are Erica Powell’s kitchen and Edie Wadsworth’s beverage area. All are gorgeous!! I prefer the more subtle grayish greens though. :)
All fabulous!
I have those Martha Stewart cabinets from Home Depot in ocean bottom and really like them. I painted the walls a soft shade of white. Hope you share your choice. Good luck!
I just finished my kitchen with those Martha Stewart ocean floor cabinets for the bottom with white for the upper cabinets. I love how it looks!
wow Rita I’d love to see pics!
Little Green Notebook just did reveal with Ben Moore “Tate Olive” cabinets :)
LOVE deVOL kitchens. Wish they had a U.S. arm to their business.
Thank you for the images of your progress. Has this home been more difficult to redesign and implement than your previous spaces?
You have an impressive design skill, and a knack for making it look simple. : )
I never thought I would be considering green kitchen cabinets but I’m loving all of these different shades of green! We are having our cabinets refinished in a few weeks and I actually think I’m leaning towards one of the dark shades of green. I’m with you–green as the new grey!
