I’m working on an outdoor DIY project today and tomorrow, building lattice privacy screens to insert into tall rectangular planters to create an enclosed patio without the expense of building a fence. Once it’s complete I’ll share how it looks and how I built them. The design is so simple!
I’m headed to Tulum in less than two weeks. I’m mostly interested in seeing and photographing the architecture of the area and I’m curious what the draw is for so many travelers. If you’ve visited Tulum, please share your tips on what to see and where to eat!

I was in Cancun in the 90s and didn’t make it to the ruins of Tulum. I did enjoy 2 bus tours to the giant ruins of Chichen Itza (2.5 hrs from Tulum) and Xcaret Park (45 minutes from Tulum). It was awesome to float through the underground rivers at Xcaret. Enjoy the trip and I look forward to your post about it.
We were just in Akumal in January. We decided to take a trip into Playa one evening and dine at a restaurant called Alex that is actually in a cenote! It was an awesome experience and the food was fantastic! Worth a drive if you have time! There are many cenote’s in the Yucitan Peninsula so if you are interested in an excursion you could ask where the nearest tour would be!
