Outdoor Pillows for Summer

By Kate Riley May 8, 2020

What are your weekend plans? I’m picking up some vegetable starts from a local farm and transplanting them to larger pots and planters. Tomatoes, peppers, and beans! My home project this week was spending a few hours sprucing up the courtyard area with new cushions and pillows made with this outdoor fabric. The blue deep seat cushions were delivered from Home Depot, then I picked up the fabric curbside at my local Joanns and made them into accent pillows.

This is a relaxing spot where we meet for coffee in the morning a few times a week. The furniture is almost ten years old but it is still functional so I don’t feel the need to replace it yet and I’m just grateful to have it. I have a group of potted succulents that are really happy here and I’ve been watching them grow slowly for years.

I made the pillow covers using the easy pocket pillow tutorial I’ve shared before. A few cuts and four straight seams and voila, simple removable pillow covers.

Below are a few more brightly colored outdoor pillows to jazz up your porch or patio this season. :)

feather orange (also in blue) / boca print

floral sundance / pastel triangle

caine navy  / abstract dots

abstract strokes (multiple colors)  / marbelish (multiple colors)

panama pink (also in blue) / palm leaves

dark green leaf / cactus leaf

tropical lumbar / multicolor textured lumbar

quinta lumbar (also in blue) / indigo tie dye lumbar

  1. I just purchased a product called Al-New to see if I could refresh my patio furniture. It is a really nice set, just faded from years of use. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked so well. Turned out much better than I expected, and I was pretty skeptical. Might be a way to add life to your patio set if you have similar issues with oxidation. I also live in Michigan where the weather is a wee bit harsher:)
