Linens for Thanksgiving

By Kate Riley November 2, 2018

Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year? Or perhaps a friendsgiving celebration? Whenever it’s my turn I bring out my basics: a neutral tablecloth with white dishes on top of a gold or silver charger. I mix it up by adding a new table runner or set of napkins and voila, I get a new look using my already in place staples.

Retailers with their stylists and marketing teams can make a convincing case that you need an entirely new setup of the newest and cutest but really, the easiest way to give your existing pieces a new look for the season is just by introducing new linens.

I’m all for less predictable palettes as well. Skip the orange leaf motifs and introduce a black and white version instead. All shades of blue are the complement to orange on the color wheel, so consider introducing a vivid or slate blue to traditional orange.

Brick reds transition well to Christmas, and stripes and plaids are always classics this time of year.

This is also the time of year to be glamorous by displaying shiny and muted metallics on your tabletop.
