Abstract Patterned Rugs

By Kate Riley October 9, 2018

I purchased an abstract patterned rug for my living room two months ago, you can see it on display here. I’m very pleased with the one I bought, it adds a contemporary graphic element to a more traditional room.

This was the first time I decorarated my home with a rug with a random pattern and without a symmetrical repeat. Abstract rugs are similar to their wall art counterpart in that they present a medley of color in unpredictable and random shapes and painterly brushstrokes.

If you’ve ever wondered how to add a more modern element to your traditional space, layering it with an abstract rug in a complementary palette is one way to do it. Mix it up like interior designers do, and balance a classically furnished interior by giving it an edgier look with an abstract patterned rug.
