Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley April 15, 2018

Hello and happy Sunday! Thank you all for your comments on the recent post about France and dreams of living abroad, I loved reading about your personal experiences and stories!

I spent yesterday out at the coast in Bodega at the annual fisherman’s festival, eating seafood and enjoying the sunshine, it was a great time! Today I’m doing a little touch up painting around my house and getting ready for my trip to Austin, Texas next weekend. If anyone has any tips on what to do or what to eat or what to see while I’m in Austin, please share!

    • Thanks, awesome tip Bari, I’m going to do the foodie tour, looks so fun!

  1. Definitely eat at Uchi or Uchiko in Austin. When we lived there, those were our favorites! Also, Hopdoddy has amazing burgers for lunch. The food truck scene is exceptional as well. We moved two years ago and I so miss the food scene!

    • Thanks so much Sharon, I heard about the food truck scene! My cousins live in Austin, they’re going to take me around to some cool places too!

  2. Second the food trucks! My son and I also enjoyed the Cathedral of Junk – he still talks about how interesting it was.

    • Awesome Amy! I may take a bike tour that hits the food trucks and breweries, sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for the tip on Cathedral of Junk!

  3. Hey Kate! Just gotta tell you I love your blog and the posts about Provence have been great. We went there in 2016 and stayed in 2 towns in a villa and an apartment with VRBO…how wonderful. I also can so picture the scenery in Bodega on the coast. I may have told you once before how we drove through your town and down the coast on the way to SF from Calistoga…So pretty.
Anyway, I just felt inspired to say hi and sorry I don’t have any tips on Austin.

    • How kind, thank you Gray, I really appreciate this comment, I love sharing my travels and I’m happy to hear they resonate with you! Bodega is beautiful, if you catch it on a sunny day, it’s bliss! Happy you were able to get a peek at it.

  4. I live in Austin and LOVE it! For fancy eats go to Lonesome Dove and for regular eats I love Taco Joint, Torchys, Via 313 (Detroit Pizza), Desano’s for legit Roman-style pizza, La Barbeque for the best BBQ in town for the wait.

Austin has Barton Springs which is amazing, kayaking downtown, silent disco dancing on the east side, and cool hangout and drinks on Rainey St.
