Mix This With That: Parkas + Boots

By Kate Riley January 18, 2018

I’m headed to Norway next week and I knew that it would be COLD and covered in snow so I planned ahead. I asked for these Sorel boots for Christmas and purchased this red parka in a New Year’s sale to wear together on my week long winter adventure. I consider winter outerwear an investment, so I shop for boots and jackets I know I’ll love for a few seasons to come.

Fashion isn’t something I talk about very often but since the parka + snow boot combo is on my mind I rounded up ones that won’t break the bank, most for less than $100 and they’ll keep you both warm and looking cute during these winter months.

In my search I stumbled across some chic and affordable parkas and boots, so if you live in the snow or are planning trips to stay and play, here are a few combos to consider:

red puffer / muk luk boots

taupe boots / navy puffer

brown parka / white boots

black quilted snow boots / ice blue jacket

white parka / gray multi boots

red multi boots / grey parka

champagne chevron coat / olive boots

gray snow boot / berry quilted coat

Cute right? Don’t forget to accessorize with beanies, legwarmers, and scarves!

  1. I’m actually glad it’s been raining so I can wear my LL Bean duck boots, I love them! Have a great trip and can’t wait to see your snow bunny pictures!

    • Thanks Sheila! Even better, the down parka feels like a blanket, so I plan to sleep in it on the red eye plane ride to Oslo :)

  2. The link for the Sorrel Boots is not working…was looking forward to seeing the boots you matched to your new parka!

    • Sorry about that Mary, I fixed the link, LOVE those boots can’t wait to hit the snow in them!

  3. Welcome to Norway! The forecast says snow this weekend (adding to what’s already here) and temperatures around the freezing point so it should still be quite wintery in a week.

I’d recommend going for a drink in the sky bar at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel. Great views and I often take visitors from abroad there.

    • Wonderful recommendation thank you Hanneliane! I will be meeting friends and saw snow is in the forecast but also maybe a few days of sunshine! Fingers crossed for a snowy backdrop and blue skies :)

  4. As a Canadian I find it hilarious that Sorels are considered a fashionable boot. We all were forced to wear them in the winter back in the day because they were an inexpensive, practical boot but we were most unhappy to do so. Warm? Absolutely! Attractive? Absolutely not!
