Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley January 10, 2014

Hi everyone! Welcome to the weekend, we’re finishing up a DIY project that’s been lingering for a long time and we’re finally completing it, I hope to share that next week.

Also I finally watched Downton Abbey, Episodes 1 and 2, how nice to see the Dowager back at what she does best: “interfering”. Edith’s dress, wow, so stunning! I loved that nursery scene with Nanny West and the one with sweet Carson comforting Mary… what are your thoughts on the season so far? No spoilers please!

  1. Carson’s tender consolation of the Lady Mary and Michelle Dockery’s well-played reaction were priceless. She is so good in this role. Carry on.

  2. I enjoy the show. But I have to say, and I hope you don’t consider this a spoiler, that I hope they get some of their magic back on the show next season. This season paled in comparison to others.
When I asked my mother if she enjoyed the season finale she said “wait, that was it?”

  3. Yes, Threshold’s new stuff…I got a little weak in the knees walking down that aisle at Target.

  4. Kate, You are responsible for hooking me into start watching “Downton Abbey” and “Mad Men” after you mentioned it on the blog. I never thanked you for that…:-). Thank you.
I am yet to start the new season but looking forward to it.

The patterned paint rolls will be such an easy answer to the wallpapers. And there are so many options. Thanks for sharing it.

  5. I was a little let down with the Downton season opener. I’m not sure how I feel about the Edith love story but I did like that Nanny got quickly sacked!

  6. I have not watched Downton Abbey since Mary was pregnant. One hour into that special, I realized what episode I was watching (Matthew’s death), and I turned it off. Haven’t dared turn Downton Abbey on since then. :P

  7. I love Downton but the season opener was a bit of a snoozer. I hope it picks up! I also love ‘Call the Midwife’.

  8. Mark my words! We haven’t seen the last of nanny! I predict revenge!
Love how they are dressing Edith now. So painful to watch Mary with Carson when she gave him the dressing down. So glad it ended the way it did. I loved your snow fort link, immediately forwarded it on to my friend with young men in her household.

  9. My new kitchen remodel is almost finished. I have the pull out shelves and the garbage baskets. I love being more organized. Thank you for the link to “A More Efficient Kitchen”. The only thing I did not do was have compartments built into my draws. I found some very nice organizational items that are made of wood at Bed & Bath and will be purchasing more of them.

    Love Downton Abbey.

    Mary

  10. I am a Downton Abbey fan. Love all the characters. Call the Midwife is good and also Doc Martin, which I am not sure will return for another season. PBS is rocking with their programs.
