Lowe’s Event + GIVEAWAY

By Kate Riley May 13, 2011

Hello everyone, I’m just so glad it’s Friday!  Announcing the winner of last week’s Shutterfly Giveaway, here are the four winners:  #6 Barbara Brooks;  #115 Laura Sharbaugh; #395 Rebecca Kavan; and #421 Sarah Davenport.  Congratulations!

This past Monday evening, I was honored to attend a very cool event in New York City sponsored by Lowe’s, showcasing their line of Hi-Def paints in Valspar’s signature colors

The evening’s event began in this very cool downtown modern all white loft space brightened with splashes of Valspar paint samples all over the walls.

loft space

We were invited to mix and mingle with the other 30 bloggers invited, and greeting us were new quarts of fresh paint and paintbrushes for the upcoming challenges.  To me, paint always represents new beginnings and the ability to reveal hidden potential in just about anything.

The always inspirational Nate Berkus was our host, together with Lowe’s.  He spoke about the power of color, and how paint is simply the easiest way for anyone to transform their space into one they will love (so true!).

Nate spoke about the fact that whenever he seeks color inspiration, he turns to three sources: nature, fashion, and the exotic places he’s traveled.  I love that.  Color inspiration is everywhere, if we open our eyes to witness it, study it, and use that inspiration in our own homes.

Nate took a minute to chat, and snap a pic with me and blog buddy Melissa.

Working with Valspar paints was great fun ~ give me a gallon of colorful paint and I’m a happy girl!  I’m a fan of Valspar having recently used this paint in my little boy’s room, and their Hi-Def is one of the few brands that covers in one coat.

valspar paint

Melissa and I played along in one of the Lowe’s challenges, but we started early.  We were given 30 minutes to use the Valspar paints to turn a piece into something cool, so I opted for a two color chevron pattern.  While the others nibbled on the crudité, we sneaked over to the challenge and started on the first coat of paint!

I painted the top and the door first, waited for it to dry, then taped the top off with painter’s tape and used a tip from this article for painting perfect stripes to get that exact chevron pattern on top by painting over the tape with the first color.  It worked!

creating the cabinet

Due to the time crunch, I didn’t think about painting the hinges, (duh) but both Melissa and Nate agreed the hinges definitely needed to be painted, so to save face, I had to go back and paint them *hanging head in shame*  The little cabinet turned out a little more funky than planned but at least I got that pattern straight!  Nate played judge and we won the ‘Creative Use of Color’ challenge!

As a result, both Melissa and I snagged a $250 Gift Card to Lowe’s, and we’re passing it on to one of YOU!  Yep, I’m giving away my $250 gift card to Lowe’s and let me tell ya, it sure is burning a hole in my handbag.

The event was fantastic opportunity to sample Valspar’s paints in their signature colors, and I’m so very grateful for the invitation! Thanks so much to Lowe’s for sponsoring this very fun gathering and to Nate, for always being such an inspirational designer and speaker!

Good luck to you in the gift card giveaway . . .

Wishing you a fantastic weekend!

  1. Today’s my wedding anniversary so I’m feeling lucky! Anyway, I’d use my Lowe’s gift card on some landscaping materials. It’s that time of year again, and I’m feeling the urge to develop a green thumb.

  2. Check out Nate’s pose with the two of you! Looks like he’s posing for a magazine cover–had to laugh! You girls must have had a blast! How fun!

  3. We just put a new deck on our house and it could use some sprucing up – furniture, planters, maybe an outdoor rug… I’d put the $250 to good use!

  4. The military is sending our family to Turkey in August. We can not sell our house because of the market so we are renting it out. We are going to be painting our interior over the next month. I would use this gift card to pay for all of the supplies. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!

  5. If I had a Lowe’s gift card I would re-paint my kitchen (with Valspar paints, of course) and then look for some new lighting to go with the newly painted kitchen. If there was any left over I would buy a few hanging baskets and some herbs………….LOVE your blog!

  6. I would use a giftcard to help us re-do a small bathroom – new light fixture, mirror, paint. Beautiful pix of New York!

  7. Recently scored some great finds at a garage sale. An awesome bench for my foyer $5, two wood chairs for my dinning room $1 each, and a new sewing table for my craft room for $10! I’m currently working a beautiful old hutch for my craft room, to store my sewing material. So as you can see…I have lots of projects to do and I’d use the $250 to help me sand, prime, paint etc…..

  8. What a fun day, thanks for sharing! If I won, I’d use it to spruce up our outdoor patio, and buy some paint to redo some of the fixtures in our home. We constantly have a buzillion projects going on at any one time, so it’d be gone before I knew it!

  9. I love nate!! Sounds like a really neat event! I think your cabinet turned out great;0. I love chevron stripes!

I would totally love a $250 gift card!!! EEK. I am not sure what I would want to use it for first but, I think for bead board to redo our guest bath room and for a chair rail in our dining room!! fUNNNN!!

  10. How fun! With that gift card, I could get started on the office/guest room renovation that is so badly needed. I’m going to need lots of primer and paint!!! (and lots of elbow grease!!!)

  11. Wow, there is so much I want to do! I would love to use cabinet transformations on my bathroom early 90’s cabinets, get a new fence for my yard, and hardwood flooring, to name a few.

  12. I would use the gift card to buy light fixtures and some paint to help redo some outdoor furniture that definitely needs it!

  13. Our glass patio table just broke into very small pieces during a storm last week so I would put it toward new WOODEN patio furniture :)

  14. Ah this would help me out SO much right now! I’m moving to a new apartment in 2 weeks and have all of, oh, $50 in discretionary funds for paint/supplies/decorations. $250 from Lowes would be a godsend!

  15. Just yesterday, I told my husband that we need to spend more time in our backyard this summer (even though we’re in Texas and it will be 1,000 degrees!) :) I would use it to buy paint and cushions (if I don’t make them first) for our hand-me-down patio furniture. Maybe a shepherd’s hook or two as well.

  16. Well, since I can’t buy Nate Berkus at Lowe’s, I guess I’ll have to “settle” for new faucets for our master bathroom! Ugly brass be-gone!

  17. How fun! I like the turquoise and yellow mixture you chose. I think I’d divide & conquer with $250 – I have a whole list of little things to do: paint the laundry room, make dropcloth curtains and rods for the kitchen nook, refinish the peeling front door, upgrade landscaping….you know, little things :) Thanks for your generosity!

  18. Hi Kate-

Fun Fun Fun. What a creative way for DIY bloggers to spend an evening with each other. Gotta love Lowes and Valspar – and Nate, too xo

    My best- Diane

  19. Right now, since summer is in the air, I’d spend it all on outdoor stuff: new planters and plants, lighting for the deck, and some new patio furniture!

  20. I would use it to paint my downstairs. For the past 4 years I have lived with the awful builders beige(I think that it looks more peach) because I am lazy and because my husband is terrified of color. Last week he finally gave me the go ahead to paint(after tons of complaining from me).

  21. I would use the gift card to buy insulation for our basement. This past year’s chilly New England winter was tough, but we just didn’t have the extra funds to upgrade the old (1930s???) insulation. Keeping my fingers crossed for a warmer winter next year!

  22. The question is, what would I NOT do with $250? We just bought a new couch and love seat for a previously undecorated area of our house. We need paint, new trim for the front door, lamps, and wall art for that room. Buying the sofas opened up a ton of new projects for us.

  23. I am getting the painting bug myself so the gift card would go for some new color for my family room.

  24. Oooh…I could definitely use some climbing roses & other plants for my back yard. And…there are definitely some great spray paint colors that aren’t in my garage….could use some of those too…have lots of projects to finish since it’s now spring in NY!!!

  25. Just bought a new house- paint and light fixtures just to start with.

  26. I would so use this to finish the painting in two rooms (I LOVE LOVE LOVE Valspar paints) and the rest for landscaping materials, trying to start a flower garden and need paving stones!

  27. We bought a “special needs” home–$250 could get us started on the bathroom…or kitchen…or floors…So many things! Thanks for always having great ideas to keep us blog stalkers inspired!

  28. I just bought my first house and I want to do a Board and Batten treatment to the dining room, among a long list of other to dos.

  29. If i had $250 i would finish painting my house inside (we’ve lived there for 5 years and it’s still not painted), repaint my kitchen, and then paint my bedroom FINALLY! There’s like 6546514687 more things i want and need to do but paint would help out SOOOO much and I puffy heart Valspar!~

  30. My husband and I are redoing our house’s main bathroom – $250 would be a HUGE help for the budget. Plus we LOVE Lowes. And I adore Valspar paints. :)

  31. I would use the $250 to finish the makeover that we have currently going in our master. We have currently finished out headboard. Next on the list is the painted sheer curtains, painted walls and reupholster chairs, build an accent table and ottoman for the newly reupholster chairs. Many even get started the master bath?

Thanks to you and Lowe’s for the opportunity!

  32. We are renovating a house in a rough neighborhood to do our ministry – and since we’re on a ministry budget, we dont have a lot of money for any fun extras (or even all the essentials) so i’d love to be able to get some faucets for our clawfoot bathtub or something :-) plus there’s like a million other things we still need so it would be perfect!

  33. Love all the beautfiul fun colors that Valspar offers! How generous of you to giveaway your gift card! I would use the money to help with our upcoming homeschool room project!

  34. I’d buy paint, for sure! I had no idea what I was doing when we bought the house -way too overeager to put color on the walls. I bought cheap paint in all the wrong colors-it could definitely use some sprucing up!

  35. Oooo, fun fun fun! And Nate Berkus eye candy to boot! Ok, here’s what I would do with the Lowe’s gift card: I have 3 pieces of furniture waiting to be painted this summer and my dining room needs fresh paint and new blinds… that should about do it {even though that’s the tip of the iceberg that is my DIY list!}.
Thanks, Kate for sharing your good fortune and fun!!

  36. Valspar rocks….so do you and Melissa for including us in all this “creativity.” franki

  37. i’ve had my eye on a light fixture there for our bedroom, so i’d get that and then some planters with the left over to spruce up my back yard.

  38. We’re re-doing an 1850s New England farmhouse and have so many projects in process! We’d use this toward a fence for the yard or for new bathroom fixtures.

  39. I just ADORE Lowes! We’re renters, but FULLY believe in putting money into our rental to make it our home for as long as we stay – but parting with that money knowing that we won’t get full value out of our upgrades is difficult. A gift card to Lowes would be HUGE!!! We’d probably use it to buy paint and personalize our space. OR I’m thinking about building a bed for my little girl – so lumber would be a great option too! THanks so much for giving away your prize – so nice of you!

  40. I know exactly what I’d do with the $250 card: give it to my brother and sister-in-law. They have had a really rough year and have been struggling to pay some major healthcare bills while working much less hours due to health reasons. And they are trying to fix up there house a little bit so it’s more enjoyable to be home so much… and the gift card would be perfect to help them out.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  41. What a great giveaway! I’ve got a TON of landscaping to do in our yard, so I’d definitely put that $250 to good use on plants and materials.

  42. If I won your card, I’d give it to my daughter for her room that we started but ran out of bucks to finish. We planned a bead board wall but instead ended up with just paint. Which is cool, but painted bead board…sigh! The texture alone is sigh worthy. So, it’s a work in progress as we plan around our funding. We’d up date her door handles and find a fun chair for her desk, the garage sale ones are too low, but way cute….seriously cute actually. Happy Day to you!

  43. I would get a new kitchen faucet to replace the old one that came with the house.

  44. I would use this card to convince my sis to give me total access to paint/re-decorate a room in her new house! ;)

  45. Wowie!! What a fun event. I would do a few things with a Lowe’s gift card:

    1. First, check the expiration! LOL – we live in a rental condo now, so no big projects we can really undertake. If it is good to go for @ least a year, we would…
    2. SAVE IT! We are hoping to purchase a house in the next year or so. So many DIY projects I am excited about =) Painting, landscaping…or maybe save for Xmas decorations/lights?
    3. If it needed to be used soon…send it to my MIL! She is the DIY and remodeling queen.

    Thanks for the opportunity!!

  46. I’ve lived in my house almost 20 years and the dining room has not been painted since I’ve moved in. I would do that first. Then the living room, the bed room, kitchen, spare bed room. Etc.

  47. I would either put this toward a new washing machine or some paint, because we’re planning to paint almost every room in our house in the next few months. Thanks!

  48. I would use the $250 Lowes gift card to finish the dining room (a year process) and to do some landscaping as I do not have a single plant/flower.

  49. I’d use it to paint my eat-in kitchen which is a disaster. 6 months ago I tried a few samples that weren’t right, and life got in the way. Now there’s greens and yellow stripes on the wall and that room needs some color! Thanks for the giveaway!

  50. I’d use it to paint our dining room and add some board and batten. Right now it’s ugly outdated wallpaper and I can’t wait to get rid of it!

  51. Oh man, my to do list is long. This wonderful gift card would go towards new kitchen floors, countertops, lumber to frame the reconfigured laundry room, etc. What an awesome giveaway! Thank you!

  52. i love Lowes! I am redecorating several rooms, and could really use the help.

  53. I would channel my inner CG and paint up a storm in this rental house to make it feel more like home while we’re here. I’ve got outdoor on the brain too.

  54. I’d buy some paint to redo an old record player I found.

    Sweet! Thanks for the giveaway!

  55. With the giftcard, I would buya few sheets of drywall for a newly insulated wall and some primer/paint for my faux wood FORMICA kitchen cabinets! This would help me make my kitchen more liveable before the new arrival!

  56. $250 would go far in my garden….some more raised vegetable beds and soil. My yard could also use a bit more landscaping with perennials and shrubs. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  57. That is so nice of you to share! I’m redoing several rooms right now, so I’d get lighting fixtures, paint, and some wood to build a desk.

  58. I would love to win this. I really want to redo our powder bath. The $250 would buy paint, and new fixtures.

  59. I would buy some paint and paint some of my furniture for a bedroom I’m trying to create in our basement. Thanks for your generosity.

  60. I would totally create an outdoor living room on our patio! Giraffe rug, hanging potted plants, tropical lovin…

  61. We’re looking at becoming empty-nesters and to sell this big house, we have to cover up all the creative painting we’ve enjoyed for the last ten years (my sister is a very cool artist who personalized the house for us). She swears she’s never painting on textured walls again so it’s all up to me! The money would go straight to painting, supplies and drop cloths!

  62. I would build a masons bees nest and use the rest of that money towards horizontal slatted trellis type of fencing for some climbing clematises!

  63. I am painting the whole house this summer (inside and out) so I would by lots of paint!

  64. I would get paint for repainting my bathroom and some shelving and closet organizational items. Thanks for the giveaway!

  65. we just moved, so painting is next on our list. this gift card could definitely help with that!

  66. I would FINALY update our bathrooms! There are loose tiles and scratched up cabinets to replace. That gift card would be a huge help!

  67. I am dying to paint my den. Very blah. Previous owners had painted the paneling white and it’s yellowed overtime…icky yuckiness. It so needs a breath of fresh air with some new fun paint!

  68. I’d use it to make some much needed improvements to my kitchen! We’re in the midst of drywall (blech) and still have countertops, a new sink, faucet and backsplash to do. It’s been a long process of updating the small space we have!

  69. I would definitely use the money on light fixtures and a new mailbox!!

  70. I would buy up paint and paint supplies for the new apartment I am moving into! probably some new lamps and cabinet hardware as well.

  71. My master bedroom has been sitting with primer ont eh walls for over a month now…Its sad but true. That $250 could go a long way in taking out master bedroom from transitional to completed!

  72. We have lots of little projects to do around the house for spring. Particularly a mini hallway makeover and a kitchen facelift! Would love to win this giveaway!

  73. Ooh, I would be investing in flagstone, mulch, and plants to deal with our awful front/side yard. Thanks so much for offering this up – and the cabinet really is cute!

  74. WOW! That’s generous of you! :)

I would use the money to add board and batten to our entryway, a new bench for our entryway, and to re-do the half bath in said hallway! We just moved into a new home and have tons of work to do to cover up the WHITE walls and brass finishes – ugh!

  75. I’d use it to buy some shelving and hooks to better organize my bedroom(what a mess!).
And the leftover I would use to add some potted plants/flowers to my porch.

  76. We just bought a fabulous new home, & a $250 GC to Lowe’s would sure come in handy….My first project is converting a closet into a mudroom. We also want to replace the carpet in the dining room & tile in the foyer with hardwoods…so yeah, I could SO use a $250 GC :)

  77. So many things I could use that card for! Mulch, plants, a storm door, paint, shutters, etc, etc. :-)

  78. I would use the money to paint my behemoth basement! I hate spending time down in the “man cave” right now, because it’s truly dark & cave-like! It needs a warm color and white trim desperately.

  79. Love Valspar !! Painted most of my house with it !! I would love to win so I could paint a very old hutch that is screaming for a make-over.

Have a great day – Karen in Texas

  80. I would buy paint for my laundry room. We have lived in our home for 11 years now and it is STILL the same “Dover white” it was when we moved in. Need a boost in there to make laundry more entertaining.

  81. Wow $250 would go so far in my house and I agree with Nate a fresh coat of paint changes everything. My oldest has just moved out and quickly before my husband can take over the space as his second office I have to get that room re-done into a nice guest room. Lowes has absolutely everthing i need to complete the job. Thanks for re-gifting!

  82. Hinges. They can be such a pain in the bottom.

Maybe with the Lowe’s card I would buy invisible hinges. :D Actually, no, I’m painting my house from top to bottom and I’m only on my second room. I’d purchase painting accessories and little things for the house, like new switch plates.

  83. Since we’ve moved, I think we’ve spent around $3000 at Lowes (in two weeks)!!! Although it doesn’t seem possible, I still need more. I’ve been using the Valspar High Def paint on my walls, fireplace and front door. Love it! I could really use a new light fixture in my dining room…

  84. I would loooove to win this! I am trying to start up a furniture business and this would DEFINITELY help me purchase some of the supplies that are on my oh so long list!
    Happy Friday!

  85. I’d definitely purchase some paint and some plants. Thanks. Have a nice weekend.

  86. I would FINISH painting my dining room (yes, I ran out of paint and never completed the project) and then I would frame in our generic mirrors in both bathrooms.

  87. I just finished my mini makeover in my kitchen, and thanks to you and one of your posts (bathroom redo), I went bold and painted my cabinets a dark brown (Bittersweet Chocolate) color.

We now my walls are begging for a fresh coat of paint. Would love to have the gift card to make that happen!

Thanks for your blog, love reading it!

  88. Please enter me in the giveaway!! We are adding a patio to our back yard, and I’d love to get $250 on the pavers that we need from Lowe’s. Thanks for giveaway :)

  89. I’m in the middle of a DIY, low budget, kitchen remodel. I’m trying to reface my cabinets myself, add a beadboard backsplash and then paint, paint, paint! The Lowe’s gift card would be awesome!

    Thanks for the shot, Kate!

  90. I would buy paint, and other things to fix up a powder room. Thanks!!

  91. Yea! I want to redo my craft room. I will paint a pine armoire (my first furniture painting attempt!) and put in shelves. Thanks for sharing!

  92. I would do some landscaping!!!! We need a shaded place to hang out in our back yard!

  93. Luv ur blog! I’m getting ready to paint practically the whole inside of my house. Pick me!

  94. I’d get some bushes to plant along the side of my house, and pick up some paint to transform the builder beige that is covering every wall in our house right now!

  95. Would love to purchase some flowers for the garden!! And perhaps pick up a few things to freshen up the decor around my house. :-)

  96. I am re-doing my craft room/play room. Boy that would come in handy!!!

  97. I would use this gift card to buy paint for several projects I’ve been dying to do for my apartment, and maybe to help jumpstart my deck mini-makeover. :)

  98. I would love to fix up the yard with some mulch and plants, and get around to painting our dingy office in a bright, fresh color!

  99. I would deal with my falling apart, peeling paint, peeling fake tiled bathroom….

    Thanks!

  100. I would use the gift card to spruce up my husband’s office, and get a new light fixture in my kitchen (we have one of those huge flourescent monstrosities!)

  101. The hubs and I are closing on our first home in just a few weeks. Needless to say we need just about everything! Paint, tools, cleaning supplies, etc.

  102. I’d use it to replace the sagging, splitting, SAD-looking wooden privacy fence. My yard is chain link on 3 sides, then wood on the side that is next to the road. I want chain link all around…more durable and a more cohesive look. Most important, it’ll be more secure for when my parents bring their dogs!

  103. Of course I would love to win this! We are renovating an odd attic space to turn our 2 bedroom house into a 3 bedroom which will better fit our family of 5! This would be the perfect way to pay for the rest of that.

  104. What a great giveaway! If I was lucky enough to be the winner, I would use the money to spruce up our deck. It need refinishing & I love Lowe’s products! I would also purchase new outdoor furniture to replace my older set. Thanks for the giveaway.
    twelve30{at}gmail{dot}com

  105. Your project turned out great! Thanks for the giveaway and it looks like you had a great time! Need to finish up some yard projects and this would come in handy!

  106. AHHH!! This would be SO AWESOME! I just got married so now that the bank is starting to fill back up with money, we are tackling painting our entire house. It is covered in UGLY builder’s grade tan paint.. all of it.. every SINGLE room. It is quite depressing!

  107. Oh I would so love to put this towards a new toilet for the bathroom.
We are also in need of a refrigerator and some new carpet. This would be a great help in moving towards purchasing these for us.

  108. Wow….I’ve just started to become a DIYer! I never knew the fun I could have turning old things into new things! Right now my biggest project is turning my daughter’s nursery into a big girl room. I’m thinking of turning an old door into her headboard and looking for a desk and end tables to redo also. I love the white desk you made I think white is where we are going with that. I would use the money from Lowe’s to buy the paint and knobs and baskets etc. Can’t wait for the weekend to begin to get started!!!
    Jamie

  109. I’d buy some crown molding for our family room. Then I’d just have to convince my husband to install it!

  110. The chevrons came out so good. I can’t believe you got it done so fast. I would love to win. I am in need of some new outdoor furniture and this would be so helpful! My son’s room needs to be painted too so paint would definitely be on the list!

  111. I am planning on renovating my downstairs bathroom (the most used room in the house!) and would love to use this on my lowes purchases!

  112. What wouldn’t I do is probably a shorter list. I’d start with some undercabinet lighting, some paint for our guest room, some flowers and shrubs for our completely blank-slate of a yard and about a million other projects!

  113. How nice of you! I have lots of ideas…need to repaint the kitchen to match the glass mosaic tiles I fell in love with and have already purchased at Lowe’s. Also I would buy new landscaping perennials and annuals. My yard doesn’t look anywhere near as good as the interior!

  114. My front entryway desperately needs a cheery new coat of paint, and some new tile for the floor. Thanks Kate!

  115. Hurray for Lowes! We literally just spent a whole bunch of money there last night for our bathroom – and we still need to go back and get the rest of the bathroom set (the medicine cabinet and mirror…). So that’s what it would be going to! That or new lights for the bathroom. Or to fix the bathroom fan. Or for paint for the master bedroom. Or for paint for my kitchen cabinets. Or new hardware for the kitchen cabinets. Yes, my list for Lowes is never-ending.

  116. I would buy paint for my bathroom. It is a 1940’s black and white tile gig. and I really want to use pantone color of the year :)

then I’d use the other money for hardware for a $20 chest of drawers i got at a yard sale that houses my tv! and then i’d buy some spray paint because I am not thrilled with the color i painted it and redo it :)

then i’d buy some other spray paint in say emerald green? and then buy laquer and paint 2 chest of drawers from ikea the infamous rast drawers!!

and i would also buy hardware to hang drapers and buy some of the waverly chippendale fabric drapes they have at lowes now to make a faux roman shade!!

  117. Lowes trim department, here I come! I have wanted to add some board and batten walls, frame out our cookie cutter boring bathroom mirrors and add crown moldings to make our tract home a stand out! Keeping my fingers crossed!
    Thanks!

  118. I would finish my dining room! I’ve been working on it for a year. Next up: wainscotting, which I thought I’d get done this weekend until I found out we had a softball tournament, a birthday party and a request to serve at church. Oh well…one day….;)

  119. LOVE! I would use $250 to help get my master bathroom in some semblance of style…. As in something other than the lighthouse border that has adorned it for FAR TOO LONG.

  120. We’re buying our first house, so I’d buy paint, paint, PAINT! and maybe a great rug :)

  121. We have been redoing our bathroom for… close to a year! Okay, really, it sat with the wallpaper partially stripped for about 8 months. I would love to get the project knocked out with more flexibility in our choices!

  122. Oh man…as much as I would love to use it inside, I think I would have to put it towards our fence plans. Boring but necessary. :)

  123. I have a long shopping list for Lowe’s right now. I want to make the “rain gutter book shelves” for my daughter’s room and I’m copying your upholstered tufted headboard for my guest room.

  124. I’m in the midst of rethinking my entire paint scheme in the house so this would let me go crazy with the paint on the walls and furniture!

  125. oohhhhh! We are moving in a few months so I would buy paint, paint, and more paint!

  126. I would buy either a new kitchen faucet or some new shrubs and perinnials to update the front of my home.

  127. I seriously love Valspar paint, I do not paint with anything else. A few times I have bought Behr because Home Depot is closer, I always regret it and end up driving to Lowes to get a new can. I am currently doing a big renovation on my house and to save money my husband and I decided we would paint ourselves, so I would use the $250 gift card to buy a boatload of Valspar paint (we have added about 1,000 sq feet to our house and it all needs to be painted- ceiling, trim, etc.). Whether or not I win we will still be buying Valspar paint, I can not recommend it enough.

  128. I too would buy paint!! I am closing on my first house in 18 days (but who’s counting?). After years of renting, I can’t wait to have my walls whatever color I want!

  129. Nice – with all my home improvements currently it would take me just one morning to spend 250$ at Lowes :)

  130. I have so many things to spend soooo much more than $250 on but that would be such a huge start and blessing! Thanks for giving away your own gift card – how nice! :)

  131. I would buy all the paint we need to cover the hideous walls the previous owners left us with in our new house! :P

  132. The thought of a $250 Lowe’s gift card made me swoon a little!

We’re turning our game room into my office/studio so this would be AWESOME! I have a huge countertop from the Habitat for Humanity Restore in the garage that needs a base, and I could build a great one with $250!

  133. When we moved into our new house, the ceilings in all the rooms were painted the same color as the walls. We have one room left…the purple room. And its not a nice purple, either.

  134. I know exactly what to do with the $250 Lowe’s card if I win (I hope I do!). Nothing glamorous but something necessary: a dehumidifier! Our dehumidifier just busted and with the humid summer about to start, we definitely need a new one in our basement.

  135. So many things are on our to-do list that this could be used for. Probably top priority is that it’d go towards a new metal roof for the addition on our house.

  136. Wow! You did a great job on those stripes! I have two rooms here calling out for fresh paint jobs.
    I hope I win! Thanks!

  137. I would buy lots of paint from my local Lowes! I want to repaint the enire interior of my house and it really needs it. Really loved your color combo on the table but I agree, the hinges and knob really needed painting.

  138. We are in the process of purchasing a home and I could a Lowes gift card for many things! First on the list would be paint, followed by some storage items, and decorative hardware for cabinets. Seriously though, the list is a mile long! LOL

  139. I have a lot of home improvment projects I’d like to work on (many inspired by you) and $150 would certainly help me out in getting them done! I’d start with repainting our master bath and refinishing the cabinets in there…

  140. I would love to win – I love Valspar paints and have used them throughout my home. Our next project is to paint the kitchen floor and that’s where I’d start with the $250.00!! Then on to the stairs, a table I have, etc . . . .

  141. Ha!! Pick anything off the list!……window boxes and flowers for the front of the house, new paint for all my exterior doors (they’re currently a horrid shade of green from the previous owner), Homemade tufted headboard for the guest room (thanks for the inspiration!), build a mantel around the fireplace, we currently have only a shower pan in the master bath (and no walls)…….and I have about a hundred more things after that!!

  142. Woo Hoo! What couldn’t I do with $250 to Lowes??
Let’s see – I’m thinking paint for the three bedrooms that all need it! And some shrubs for the front of my house – need to amp up that curb appeal! If there’s any left, I could use some colorful annuals, too (I could probably spend 3xs that amount on plants alone ; )

  143. We have a lot of home improvement projects we are working on at the time: extending the patio, using Valspar paint to paint our enclosed patio ceiling, and painting an old bench we found at an antique store. Now if we could just buy time to get our to-do list done.

  144. We are renovating our apartment, re-doing the kitchen and bathroom, so I would definately use the gift card towards that :)

  145. Ooh, I would love to use the gift card on some paint, a new light fixture for my living room, and some gardening supplies!

  146. Oh I can think of about a million and one ideas to use that gift card on! I would start by looking in their lighting department for some barn/industrial looking lighting for my master bedroom makeover, which is currently in full swing. Then I would head on over to the trim department and look and see if they have any beadboard for our master bathroom, which is next on the list. If there was anything left over I would just have to browse the paint department (I can sit there and stare at paint colors for hours!) and see if I could find that rustoleum cabinet makeover kits for the bathroom as well. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  147. I am in the midst of a huge master bathroom, closet and bathroom renovation. This would be great to get an awesome closet organization system!

  148. I would use it to paint our kitchen! I’m dying to change up the “blah” color in there, just haven’t had the resources…

  149. I’m in a rental, but I could still do plenty with a Lowe’s gift card. There is some furniture I’d like to paint and I’d love to get a bench and something movable to put some plants and flowers on my front porch.

  150. WOW meeting Nate, I watch it everyday. Well could I use that $250 card … you bet. I’m getting ready to redo my kitchen/dining room. So I need paint, new sink, backsplash and more. So please throw me into the pot. Thanks for sharing.

  151. I love to go to Lowes and check out all the new Valspar paint colors. I am getting ready to strip all the wallpaper from my long hallway and I could really use that Lowes gift card. Gonna repaint it as soon as all the wallpaper is gone!! Just finished my kitchen and den. Goodbye wallpaper and hello paint!

  152. Paint! We’re renters, but we have one HIDEOUS peach and purple bathroom (yikes!) which I’m trying to get our landlord to agree to let us paint and do a mini reno on.

Some high-quality products like a Valspar paint in a luxuriously muted tone might be just the thing to sway him. If I win, expect my before and after photos!

I can see why you didn’t paint the hinges – they needed something… else? Painting them the colors they are up against is a good way to camouflage them, but I could see something darker, or a metallic silver finish bringing more pizzazz to your funky piece.

  153. The cabinet is adorable!

Now that winter has finally left NC, I would get moving on a few painting projects that are on my to-do list: A beautiful desk that my husband made out of a 90-year old farm-house door, an old mahogany dresser that I saved from a thrift store, a 2-foot tall lamp from the 60’s that is kitschy and fabulous….the list goes on!

  154. Wow ! a $250 Lowe’s card would be great! If I would win the gift card I’d buy some Valspar paint to redo my laundry room. Thanks for the chance to win!!!

  155. I linked to you in facebook, too, girl! :) Thanks for the chance to spruce up my house. Thanks, too to Lowes and Valspar!

  156. The possibilities are absolutely endless … but with a $250 giftcard from Lowe’s my husband and I could tackle putting up crown moulding in our dining room and living room. We love Lowe’s!!!

  157. We are wanting to remodel the ENTIRE HOUSE… think paint, new kitchen, rugs, appliances, lighting, windows, etc, etc, etc!

  158. Paint and lots of it. Paint for the living room, kitchen, my office, and bathroom. I want to add color to my house. I’ve written a prescription for my house: ADD COLOR!!

  159. Hmmm what’s next on our Lowes list? $250 is a good chunk of change so we might just have to put it towards new floors! Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  160. Buy some of their wonderful paint to start. Due to the economy, we had to sell our large family home and bought a small and very dated home. Our goal is to show our kids what you can do with lots of TLC and diy projects!!! I would begin at the front door and start painting…………Reading your fabulous blog inspires me to go forth and make beautiful, one project at a time!

  161. I would use the $250 for paint for my kitchen and dining room and if possible the living room. It sooo needs it!

  162. Thanks for the chance to win this gift card…I would paint my family room, which is currently a very sad beige colour, and needs a facelift immediately. I would also tackle painting the kitchen cabinet doors. I have wanted to do this for a long time, as my kitchen is all medium oak and really should be cream/white!
    Thanks

  163. With a $250 Lowe’s gift card, I’d probably go in the store and never come out :) Seriously, I have been waiting for the budget to allow me to complete the mirror re-do in my bathroom – the gift card would allow me to complete that project. And I love your funky cabinet!!!

    Mary @ Redo 101

  164. We are in the middle of a masterbath remodel and running a tad over budget – spending this gift card would be easy – It would buy the faucet that I want. Thank you for the chance to win.

  165. Thanks for the cool giveaway! I’d feel like I hit a jackpot if I won this! I’d paint my office/writing/music room and make it an inspiring place to play and write about jazz!

  166. We are redoing my daughter’s room so we are in the market for lots of fun stuff from Lowes. $250 would go a loooong way for this project.

And thank you for sharing! You rock!

  167. I would get updated hardware for all of my cabinets. (the knobs on the kitchen cabinets are brassy gold and they have fish on them. eww.)

  168. We are renovating a house and there are a million things I could use this for. It would probably go towards the master bath, sink hardware, tile, mirror, lighting, the possibilities are endless. Thanks!

  169. I would MOST DEFINITELY replace the countertops in my tiny little kitchen. They are hideous and have been driving me nuts for 5 1/2 years now and I would be thrilled to win this and finally do something about them!!! :)

  170. I’d put it towards all of my refinishing projects! I’m working on converting an antique door into my headboard and redoing my childhood dresser and a nightstand I bought for $10 dollars with a seriously rough paint job.

  171. OOOOOOHHH!!!! Tile for my kitchen backsplash and under cabinet lighting!! What a cool giveaway – thanks!

  172. With $250, I could turn my mud room from disastrous to beautiful and functional! It has been driving me crazy! I want to do board and batten walls with hooks, and three built-in open lockers with cubbies below and shelves above. And since it’s a tiny mud room, I may even have some left over for painting the half-bathroom!

  173. So many things to do at our house!!! We need to repaint our screened in porch to make it a brighter more inviting place to relax this summer!!

  174. We just moved into a new home a couple of months ago and there are lots of things at Lowe’s we could use…paint, outdoor furniture, a new grill…

  175. I would paint my stepdaughters room. It would a great bonding experience.

  176. We just bought a house that has mainly brown walls. So it would definitely be used to buy some paint to brighten the place up!

  177. This sounds like it was so fun! I would spend the $250 on some new paint to update our dining room, and also materials and paint for a pegboard storage project!

  178. I’ve been needing a new stove for about 5 years. A Lowes gift card would be a HUGE help :)

  179. We just bought a home in Austin, TX and there are plenty of projects we could use $250 for. I need a couple oil rubbed bronze faucets for the master bathroom. We need some blinds or shades for the master and guest bedrooms. I know that would eat it up pretty quick!

  180. I have 3 great kids who are looking forward to renewing and updating their rooms this summer…..and this card could help in a big way!

  181. I’d use a gift card to 1) paint my media room that is an awful red color and 2) buy some shelving for my master closet!

  182. I would buy a grill in a heartbeat. There is no better way to cook in the summer!

  183. What wouldn’t I do?? Our house is in need of a face lift in many areas!!

  184. What a fun event! If I had a $250 Lowe’s gift card, I would use it for new pillows and accessories for my patio

  185. I have lots of projects to do right now! Mostly changing the paint in our house from gold tones to light airy colors. Can’t wait for the transformation!

  186. I could do so many things with a Lowes giftcard. I’m itching to try some new paint colors in my home or finally put up some board and batten in my dining room like I’ve been dying to do!

  187. My husband and I could really use this to help our 1920’s colonial come back to life!

  188. We’re looking for a house. So, I’d most likely save it until we get the house and then, we’d get paint and DIY stuff to do minor repairs with. I have always liked crown molding and if the house does not have any, I’d buy some of those too. It all depends. I am so looking forward to getting our dream home. :-)

  189. Fun! I actually rather like the hinges unpainted. It looks quirkier that way (in a good way!).

With $250 at Lowe’s, I’d paint our dining room and office and finish sprucing up our patio!

  190. I have a spare bedroom that needs some attention and this would be a great kick start!!

  191. My husband and I have made lowes our “friday night date”- we are there that much right now! I would use $250 to get a light fixture and faucet for the master bathroom, and then use the rest to finish the baseboards in the rest of the house. We are currently without!

    Thank you for doing this!!!

  192. I would buy a new dishwasher with the Lowe’s gift card. Just bought a foreclosure and have been redoing everything myself, so a Lowe’s gift card would be so helpful!

  193. What an awesome giveaway! I would use the $250 gift card to buy paint for our master bedroom, and buy shelving for the pantry and linen closet. We have that awful wire shelving!!

  194. I would definitely get crown to put in throughout my house. Hope I get real lucky! :}

  195. I think the question is, what *couldn’t* I do with a Lowes giftcard? I have two big summer project planned: a patio project with pavers and a kitchen makeover. This gift card would help immensely with either of those things.

  196. We’re in the middle of some major home improvement jobs … I’d use it to buy paint or the new backsplash for my kitchen!

  197. We’re closing on our very first condo next month and the entire place needs repainted. Thanks for the giveaway :)

  198. $250?!? I’d spend it on paint and floor tile for our sad-shape bathroom.

  199. Ooh, with a lowes gc, I think I’d get some new plants for my front planter boxes…or some paint to refinish some furniture hanging out in the garage…or some storage bins to finally get my craft area organized…or…

  200. With a $250 shopping spree at Lowes I would start purchasing supplies to redo my staircase railings and bainsters… And maybe a book because I know I am not using the right terms for baisters and railings.

  201. This would be AMAZING! I would take that gift card and buy a new mirror cabinet for our bathroom, light fixture and a gallon of paint to do a quick change in our small bathroom. A total transformation for $250.00! :)

  202. I would paint my bedroom, get some more plants/shrubs for my garden and maybe a new lighting fixture :)

  203. $250 would go a long way in making our brand new apartment feel like home. I’m thinking paint and more help in the storage department. And since I just got accepted into veterinary school, I’d love to turn our sunroom into my office! It’ll be a long four years, but I’m looking forward to a space all my own to study in :) Thank you for the giveaway, you’re very sweet!!

  204. What wouldn’t I do with a $250 gift card is more the question!?! We have a new house (old but new to us) and we’re currently renovating the kitchen, downstairs bathroom and laundry room. Yikes! We’d put that baby to good use by helping us buy a new stackable washer and dryer. Swoon.

  205. Looks like a fabulous event! That’s really generous of you guys to give away your gift cards. If I were to win, I would definitely put it towards sprucing up my daughters bathroom. We live in an old house and right now it’s the only room we haven’t done much improving on. It’s small so $250 would be perfect! Paint is definitely on the to-do list.

  206. I would save the $250 gift card until we buy our house next year. My two young girls are just itching to be able to paint their own rooms since we have been renting the past 3 years.

  207. Oh, I could really use this! I’d use it all on landscaping. Our yard is an eyesore!

  208. I would definitely put in crown throughout my house. Hope I get real lucky :}

  209. Paint, lamps, decor! I am currently decorating my home and reusing pieces by painting them. I’d have a lot of fun!

  210. I have so many projects on my list. I’d have to use it for my bedroom redo :). Thanks for the chance to win!

  211. That giftcard would go a long way in helping me landscape my new back yard! I went last week to buy flowers and spent well over $200 already! I’d love some more color and planters in my yard! :)

  212. With a 250.00 Lowe’s gift card, I’d get tile for my kitchen backsplash!

  213. boy…let’s see…there are so many things i would like to do. i guess if i had to pick…i would get some paint (valspar of course!) for the girls room and baby nursery. i’d pick up some new lighting for our room and the supplies to build the bookshelves in your recent post:) thanks for the giveaway. brooke.

  214. With a $250 Lowe’s gift card I would start to decorate the new covered porch over our patio.

  215. $250 at Lowe’s would buy the rest of the supplies needed for my kitchen redo!

  216. I’d get new hardware for my kitchen cabinets, and finally take the plunge and paint them!

  217. Oh Kate, I could spend that $250 about 8 times without pausing for breath! But the first time, I’d use it toward a privacy fence across the back (my neighbors have them on each side), so I can let my new dog play out there without adult supervision. :)

  218. I would love to update my daughters room, she is getting closer to the teen years, and will start living in her room so to speak to get away from her little brother.

  219. Oh the possibilities…we are currently redoing our kitchen and this would help immensely!!!!

  220. Oh what I would do for this gift card! With 2 little boys on the move, it seems everyday we find something else that they’ve broken. Just last night one of them broke a door handle. So that would be first on my list, followed closely by new paint for my kitchen cabinets and a new front door – well at least it would take a small chunk out of that expense!

  221. I would so redo my foyer and up my stairs. The previous owner of my house painted it an awful, very “80s” mauve color…but she didn’t stop there! Oh no…she took a spounge and painted plops of marroon and a light mauve color all over it. Not only is in completely dated, not classic and just down right ugly…it also makes my foyer very dark and dull. So I would certainly get that fixed up. I have lived with it for 6 years now *hanging head in shame* but time and money constraints have made sure the 80’s stay alive for a while longer in my house!

  222. Oh! With $250 I could possibly get an air conditioner before we return to the 100 degree temps we rocked ’round these parts last summer!

  223. What a fun challenge! I would have forgotten to paint the hinges too. :) It’s so generous of you to pass on your gift certificate. I love Lowes and shop there all of the time! If I won your giveaway I would use the money to replace the moulding in my home and add some board and battan (using your tutorial of course). I know it would make such a huge difference! Thanks for the giveaway, enjoy your weekend!

  224. Hmm, I have soooo many unfinished projects in my house. The majority of them stalled after the adoption of our last child. Okay, I would finish the upstairs bath that was started 6 years ago then I would move on the the foyer which needs to be gutted and finished with new insulation and drywall and the back entry which also needs to be gutted, insulation and finished with a pantry. Okay now my head hurts :)

  225. Oh, the places this could be used in our house! Plantation shutters, new ceiling fans, new kitchen faucet, base cabinets to build island for the kitchen, shade plants for the backyard, new hardware for kitchen cabinets, new kitchen appliances — the list is endless! Oh and our lawnmower decided to break a few days ago and if hubby can’t fix it guess we’d have to use the gift card for that!

  226. I would definitely buy some paint and supplies to update my sons’ room! They are outgrowing the young nursery theme and are in need of a big boy redo.

  227. Congrats on your win! (And on snagging a pic of you with Nate) I’d tape off my patio in a neat pattern and stain away.

  228. Wahoo!! My hubby and I are moving this weekend and I know we’ll need some project supplies. Paint, a new gas grill, and maybe some plants and soil for our new yard. Thanks for the giveaway!

  229. I have a list about a mile long with things I could do with that large of a gift card… I get a little giddy just thinking about it!

  230. Oh my goodness, we constantly have half a dozen projects going on that require multiple Lowe’s trips a piece. Our latest projects have been building me a garden, painting the front and back door and putting on new knobs and locks. The giftcard would go toward my bathroom remodel, a window unit air conditioner for upstairs, or an outdoor swing.

  231. Would love to win this Lowes card. We’re about to build a wall in our yard and this would make a huge dent in the supplies!

  232. We’ve got our house on the market, so we would use the gift card for either small repairs to the house or paint and supplies for the new house. This would be super-helpful!!

  233. I want a new front door! Spring storms have already hit hard here in the Midwest and we are having to get a new roof and siding already. My old front door is sad and tired, not to mention everyone can see in through a large glass panel! I want to replace it with something solid and sturdy, unmarked by the elements and pretty!

  234. I would buy supplies to do a board and batten for my entryway, it’s so boring and blah right now

  235. Having just bought my first house, i’ve been hunting blogs to find the perfect colors for my new walls!

  236. I would use it to finish remodeling my master bedroom and bathroom. All the paint and furniture is done…just working on decorations!

  237. I would give it to my daughter to buy paint for her storage shed and child’s swing which both need a paint job. The left over would help purchase mulch.

  238. Happy Friday! What a cool little dresser. I can always find stuff at Lowe’s! With $250, I might be able to round up some of the final touches for our outdoor patio re-do. Some plants, planters, outdoor lighting, outdoor rugs, or maybe a new swing set for the kids. Thanks for the giveaway!

  239. If I won the gift card – we’d likely put it towards a new front or back door. We have old wooden, so-not-energy-efficient doors that desperately need replacing! Or I might buy gallons of beautiful gray paint and re-paint my entire downstairs!

  240. Would love to pick up something to spice up our patio…new pavers, patio furniture, you name it!

  241. I would definitely start by buying beadboard for my kitchen backsplash and drop clothes to slipcover my navy/hunter-green livingroom furniture. Thanks for including Canada in the giveaway! Love your blog!

  242. I have my eye on building an Earthtainer – apparently the best way to grow tomatoes and perfect for my urban condo!

  243. I would buy paint to paint my dull ugly kitchen cabinets. I was going to hire someone to do them but I have been inspired by your website and tutorials! I can do this!

  244. I have lots of fun projects that I have been wanting to start but I would likely spend it on gardening things!

  245. I would definitely be getting some paint, a new faucet, and some trim pieces to finish up a few projects in the house!!! Oh what I would do with $250 to Lowe’s! :)

  246. What a great giveaway! I have many paint projects I want to do this summer! Furniture, walls, and ceilings! Would also love to install board and batten in our son’s room!

  247. I have been itching to paint the top half of my living room and install a chair rail. It’s too cave-like with the current mocha color all over the walls. This would be so AMAZING!! Thanks for the giveaway.

  248. Threw away all of our ugly metal closet doors so I would be buying new closet doors!

  249. I would use the $250 gift card to purchase paint and other “updating” items for the house we’re moving into in a few months!

  250. We just built a house, so I have bare walls everywhere! I would use the $250 to fund some cool projects to help cover the bareness! Another possibility would be to repurpose some furniture to use in our nursery. #7 was a bit unexpected, so it’s back to the drawing board for all things baby!

  251. I would love to spruce up my backyard and also paint the bench on our patio!

  252. with plans to renovate the bathroom in my 100 year old house, I would buy a vessel sink and some beadboard. With any luck I’d buy some Valspar signature color paint!

  253. I would the gift card to redo my half bath. It has two layers of peeling wall paper, and the top layer is painted! It’s a nightmare that I really need to turn into a daydream!

  254. We mare building and this would be great to go toward getting to choose another paint color in my laundry room.

  255. I would use it outside for flowers, shrubs and a cute bird feeder; I also want to paint our front door red!!

  256. I’d buy a new kitchen faucet, and curtain rods for the windows that still need them

  257. I’d definitely buy some paint for my kitchen I’d like to change up. and Lowe’s has some great plastic colorful Adirondack chairs I’d love to get along with some plants and outdoor accessories!

  258. Oh my goodness what a wonderful giveaway !! My home is in need of many improvements….It is so dated. I can’t even begin to think what it would go towards. But my home office might be next on my list so maybe that ????

  259. I would use it to buy new paint and some plants for the new apartment I’m moving in to next month. I would love to be able to afford to put my own touch on it.

  260. I would buy a rug and wooden blinds to continue the modernization of our living room.

  261. Splash some color onto the walls of my first apartment- dining room, kitchen, bathroom. And maybe get a grill for some summer bbqing!
p.s. thanks for all your painting tips- coming in so handy with some of the hand-me-down furniture i’ve received.

  262. I would LOVE a Lowe’s gift card! Lowe’s is like my second home :) I would probably put it towards an air compressor!

  263. Have two bedrooms to paint this summer as my daughter moves off to college and room swaps are done!!

  264. Looks like you had a wonderful trip. Gotta love Nate and Lowes! I’d use the gift card for buying paint to finally get our half bath and our guest bath the color I’d like. And the rest would go toward organizing and hanging things in my sewing/craft room.

  265. I would really, really love to surround my kitchen island in beadboard just like Thrifty Decor Chick did in her beautiful kitchen. The Lowe’s card would pay for the supplies to do it!!

  266. We’re getting ready to do a LOT of landscaping. Are yard has turned into a mud pit and Lowes has a million things that would remedy that! Thanks!

  267. I would use the money toward some shelving and paint for our new place!!

  268. Lowes is my favorite place to get wood and such. I’m currently working on doing a board and batton in my master bedroom, so I’d pick up the wood there . . . and a nail gun while I”m there too!

  269. paint to cover the year old primed walls in the hall & living room. also some nice faucets to distract from my shell sinks in the master bath!

  270. I’m getting married on May 21st of this year…ONE WEEK! I would love to use this gift card to get started on the new town house we’ve moved into! All the walls are boring beige!

  271. We’re having our first in November, and I would love to paint the nursery!

  272. We are buying a new (to us) house, so I can think of a million projects to do! The first thing I’d buy is paint, and then some plants for the yard.

  273. I would love to use the giftcard to put toward redecorating our living room!

  274. We care currently in the process of selling our house. The house we had planned to buy was sold to another purchaser. This leads up to my answer of “Im not sure what I’d do with a Lowes gift card.” most of the new & relatively new homes we like don’t seem to have tile backsplashes. So that would be my 1st choice- If we end up buying a previously owned home, I’d likely use it to buy paint. We ‘ve seen a number of nice houses with awful ( in my humble opinion) paint choices. So far I have seen 3 homes with “flower gardens ” either steciled or painted free hand on lilac walls in 1 of the kid’s rooms. I guess this could be cute if I had a little girl, but I have sons . Sons-Who keep sayng ” No, Let’s not buy that house. It has icky girly flowers on the wall!” I keep saying it’d only take some paint & yes, selling the current home….

  275. My husband and I are always at Lowe’s – we are major DIYers. We’d probably finished up some landscaping projects if we won.

  276. I would LOVE this gift card. We would build a new fence! Ours is falling down. We thought the wind would blow it over but no such luck :)
    Thanks

  277. I would buy paint and a fan for our nursery! I am due June 23rd and haven’t really started our nursery yet! With two other young kids, it is hard to find the time!

  278. Honestly? I’d give it back to you and put it toward the Alma house. I certainly do have things that need doing around the house. But even more awesome is the work you’re doing! We have been a bit strapped for cash (I went back to school), but that’s temporary. It just means that I haven’t been able to donate to your project. i think $250 would go pretty darn far with Alma house to do more awesome goodness there.

  279. I would use it to finish up the front lawn landscaping project and the rest to buy paint for the next project…Living Room remodel!!! Thanks for the chance!

  280. Oh man! We bought a foreclosure so we have so many projects we could use this GC for! Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  281. How fun that y’all were able to attend that event! With Nate!

Very nice of you to offer your gift card up. I would use it to replace all of the brass door knobs in our new (to us) home, and I’d pick up a gallon of the hi-def paint to try out in our half bath! :)

  282. If I had $250 to lowes I would buy paint to repaint the main floor of our home, maybe add some shelving to a few spaces, a new door to the garage — a screen one so I can leave it open and see the kids, but keep the bugs out! I have a million things I could use it on.

  283. We’d paint! We bought an amazing new house… but it definitely needs a few coats of new paint in just about every room. I’m not exactly sure what the previous owner was thinking! We’re also planning some DIY work in the kitchen and laundry room!

  284. Oh man $250! I would totally be buying the supplies to make my daughter a little kitchen for Christmas as well as paint to paint rugs/ furniture and I’m sure my husband would find a way to snag a tool as well.

  285. When we bought our house in October 2009 pretty much every room needed a make-over. Our current project is the nursery! I am due mid-july and this gift card would be put to great use!

  286. I have SO many projects I could use a Lowe’s gift card on–a dresser, my kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, my back patio, the list goes on! What an awesome giveaway.

  287. Oh, the things I could paint with $250 of Valspar paint! Thanks for the opportunity!

  288. I would definitely buy some paint supplies to makeover an old glider we recently acquired – it would look so much better with a fresh coat of paint!

  289. The $250 would either be added to my flooring fund or, more likely, immediate gratification-wise, put toward paint projects–accent wall, dresser re-hab and unwise-color choice do-over.

  290. Oh my goodness, I’d just love to repaint my living and dining rooms. I just got some new furniture and the walls are in desperate of a freshening up! I used Valspar Hi-Def for the first time recently and love it.

  291. Oh, yeah!! I just stocked up on painting supplies but I REALLY want some plants for the garden! Unfortunately they are not a NEED so they aren’t in the budget but with an extra $250 I could go nuts! :)

  292. kate, I look forward to checking out what you are up to several mornings each week. I have been inspired by your creativity and energy. We are in the process of finishing up my own little craft area in our basement. I would love to use Lowes “cash” to refinish our repurposed kitchen cabinets with the kit you showed us a few weeks ago.

  293. I would paint and get some closet organization systems – the closets are in dire need of some rethinking! Thank you for sharing your winnings!

  294. I would love to win! I have a front flower bed that I just can’t afford to “finish” the way I want to. I also have 3 pieces of furniture to re-finish, and my patio furniture desperately needs a refresh! With too many things going on, I just don’t have to $$$ to get it all done now when I could enjoy it for the summer!

  295. I would update my patio! Currently we have a rickety table and four plastic chairs and a plastic “armoire” for storage. It needs to be lovely-fied so my husband can relax and sit comfortably as he has serious health issues – cancer that won’t go away. When the kids visit we all enjoy eating alfresco together.

  296. Oh wow…we are doing so many house renovations right now! It would probably go towards our new wood kitchen and dining room floor. :) Thanks for the giveaway!

  297. I’m painting my living room with this paint right now and it’s incredible. THe wall was red and I’m painting it gray. I feel so “in” right now. Since my boy’s room and my room needs to be painted next, so I would buy the paint for there. I also have a table that needs painted. THanks for the chance to win. And you both look so cute in those pictures.

  298. We are moving next Friday and I’d use the gift card to buy flowers for my new patio!

  299. Would love to get some paint for the new townhouse I just moved into – so many white walls right now!

  300. I would LOVE to win this gift card! We are closing on our first house on Monday, and it is in serious need of new paint from ceiling to floor. We’ve just about got the colors picked out, so a gift card would be fantastic!

  301. I’d LOVE to win this! The gift card would go towards the new carpets we’re getting! YAY!

  302. I’m moving to my FIRST HOME this fall with my husband and two little daughters! MY $250 would go to spiffing-up their bedroom or playroom… *Sigh* :)

What a blast – congrats on getting to spend time with Nate!!

  303. I live in an apartment so no wall paint for us. :( I would use it for lumber & supplies to build some shelves, some more spray paint (!!!), and some home accents. Thanks for the giveaway!

  304. I would be so grateful to win the Lowe’s giftcard! Our bathroom has this really outdated wallpaper in it, and we have tried EVERYTHING and it won’t come off! In the places it has come off, it has damaged the drywall. So right now it is too big of a project for us to finish, but the Lowe’s giftcard would get us back at it!

  305. Sooooo many options, but after a year in our house, we are finally putting our master bathroom and closet together. (they were just dry walled, empty rooms before). There are so many things we need!!

  306. I’d use some of it for some pretty flowers for my windowbox and some yummy veggies for the garden.

  307. I have a ton of woodworking projects I want to tackle, picture frames, a coffee table, an armoire! I need wood and paint for all of those projects :D I’m also wanting to build a deck for outdoor sun basking :D

  308. Hel-loooo! What couldn’t I do with $250?! My girl is getting married in July and we are working on getting her fiance’s home new-bride ready. Painting and accessorizing are tops on the priority list. The gift card would make this a fairly stress-free endeavor! Thank you.

  309. I’d like to update my mother’s apartment bedroom! She is in dire need of shelving and storage and a plant. Definately a plant.

You are too cute! Thanks for sharing your prize!

(I wouldn’t have thought of painting the hinges either… so no worries, you’re still brilliant)

  310. I love Lowes!!! If I won I would finally purchase the Allen + Roth Quatrefoil mirror that I’ve been wanting FOREVER! The rest would go towards a grill for this summer. That would be awesome!

  311. Love the cabinet! I would use the giftcard to purchase a grille for my husband for Father’s Day-we really need a new one. Or maybe a new fancy faucet for the kitchen, or a new chandy for the dining room . . . obviously too much stuff I want at Lowes.

  312. I’ve really been wanting to make built ins in my daughters room, it’s so small and I think a built in bed with storage all around it will make it feel roomier, I hope I win!

  313. I would repaint my kitchen and livingroom. They need it so bad! Thanks for this opportunity!

  314. I would buy the materials to build a small entertainment center so I can have my coffee table back from under the TV.

  315. Wow! I would PAINT PAINT PAINT!!!! My kitchen needs a re-vamp, my dinning room could use a re-do, and my hallway is ri-diculous.
    Seriously.

  316. Ooh that teal color you used in the chevron pattern would look great as the first coat on a dresser that I want to give a weathered, antique look to! So happy Canadians are included in this conteset :)

  317. I would paint our kids’ rooms and maybe buy some spring plants. Thanks for the chance.

  318. I would use it towards building my son some bunk beds! Or maybe a rug… Or maybe a grill… Now I want to go shopping.

  319. I have a garage full of funiture waiting for a makeover. The $250 would go a long way to help them get the facelift they need!!! paint, supplies, sanding blocks……

  320. We’re building a house this summer so the gift card will be going towards tile or paint or appliances or anything. :)

  321. We just moved into a house and it needs lots of love! From the kitchen to the bathroom to the landscaping!

  322. Just bought a house. Huge, but with horrible storage. So shelving. And paint. And my own tape measure so that I don’t have to go searching for DH’s whenever I want one. And if there was anything left, plants!

  323. I would buy paint with the money! I just bought my first place (a brand new 2 floor condo) last October, and am getting so sick of the beige they painted the entire place! But as a 24 year old with a mortgage and all the bills that come with it, I haven’t been able to afford to paint the place yet. Hopefully soon!

  324. I would love to pick up some new knobs for cupboards and wood material for a raised garden. Thank you for this wonderful post and giveaway.

  325. I would paint the master bedroom and bathroom, and if there was anything left, put it toward a new bathroom vanity!

  326. We will be moving in a couple of months and will definitely need some paint since I’m leaning to buying an older home. All these design blogs have me hooked and inspired :)

  327. I would spend the giftcard from Lowes buying vegetables and seeds and other gardening implements to grow food for my family to can. We are very big on local food.

  328. I want to win that gift card sooooo bad!! Good job with your creative colors!

  329. I’d use it to buy lots of paint. We’re still living with the white walls we moved into (eeek! 4 years later!) so we would love to add lots of color.

  330. How do I narrow it down? I have so many things on my “to-do” list! I would love to put that giftcard towards a kitchen cabinet makeover. I would love to paint my cabinets white, and brighten up my kitchen!
    Hugs,
    Jill

  331. what would I do with $250 at Lowe’s? replace all the broken/missing tile in my kitchen & living room with maybe some linoleum & replace my nasty worn out kitchen sink & faucet. If anything is left over, I could use a little more insulation in the attic…

    V

  332. Oh how fun for you to go to do this!! Hmm.. Painting my bedroom and the living room for sure and if there was any left over maybe some new plants for the yard.

  333. Oh gosh, what *couldn’t* I do with $250 from Lowe’s?!? We could start on our flagstone pathway in our front yard, or finish up our stair renovation project? Or detexturize my stepson’s walls in his room and paint them the color he wants? So much!

  334. What wouldn’t I do with a Lowe’s gift card! Right now, we are gearing up to re-do one of our flower beds and plant the garden. We would also love to tackle a deck expansion and kitchen cabinet redo this summer!

  335. Wow. What I could do with $250 at Lowe’s!! I have been gearing up to redo our living room and that would help out tremendously!!

  336. I recently found bullet edgers at Lowes that are an exact match to the ones in my yard. The big-box store that I had bought them at originally changed the manufacturer, so the sizes changed too. boo. I was so excited to find them at Lowes! I would use the gift card to buy those!

Thanks very much for the opportunity!

  337. i just bought valspar paint to paint my front door and so far am loving how it goes on. I would love to use the gift card to fix my master bathroom – we’ve had plywood covering a torn out wall due to a leak for over a year. I’d love to get that finished.

  338. oh my! we just moved, so we sort of live at Lowes. I think I would use this to buy paint for our living room!

  339. $$ to Lowes? Well I am getting married in 70 days and my fiance and I are still house hunting and getting very stressed regarding this whole “we have no place to live yet.” But I am optimistic and I would use $250 to Lowe’s to update the lovely new home which I am sure we will have very shortly hopefully!

  340. i don’t have to hesitate on this one. i’d spend it on wood for the dream pergola i want built on our patio!

  341. I’m in desperate need to repaint my dark green walls. I’d use the money to go lighter and brigher, and get a new rug for the living room!! I hope I win!

  342. What would we do with the $250 gift card to Lowes? Put it towards gorgeous tile for our bathroom gut/reno on our new-to-us house we cloosed on yesterday. Or maybe paint for my sons room. Or a grill for my amazing husband for fathers day. The list could go on and on. :)

  343. We are getting my fiance’s house ready to sell and this card would be so helpful! We need paint, new hardware, some art and mirrors, the list is pretty long!

  344. Oh my gosh, what wouldn’t I spend this on?!?! I would paint and decorate my daughter’s room, get a new vanity for my master bathroom and get silver nickel doorknobs and hinges for all my doors. Oh I hope I win!

  345. So many places, so many choices! I love repainting and retooling what we have — for starters, I need to paint the outdoors wrought iron patio set. Moving on to a mirror frame, picture frames, the inside of our kitchen cabinet and the bonus room!

  346. The possibilities are endless, the first things I would buy would be new paint and MDF to add board and batten to my master bedroom!

  347. Love the new Valspar paint colors! I would use the $250 toward a redo of my guest bathroom. It’s stuck in the eighties! To see a picture head over my blog and check out the Projects! post. You will be horrified!

  348. I would buy paint (of course!) My hubby and I just bought our first home and its full of drab beige walls desperately in need of some color love.
I’m sure a chunk would go to gardening supplies as well!

  349. We’re at Lowe’s every weekend for one thing or another, so I’m sure we’d use the $250 quickly to go towards a variety of home improvement projects.

  350. We’re starting a complete remodel project in our basement and a gift card to Lowes would be so helpful with our tight budget!

  351. I can think of about 700 billion things I could do with it. With an older home that we have been continually redoing, there is always a project list :)

  352. For the past eight years I have moved once, sometimes twice a year. Pain in the butt but I got used to the consistency of the change. The apt. I am in now, I expect to be in for a while now. I am very happy I don’t have to move yet again, but I am missing the bit of change. I would use the paint to finally make a the house I am living in feel more like a home, and get my fix for change.
PS: Your site has been an inspiration in so many projects and in getting me back doing what I love. I pass it on to everyone. Thank you!

  353. Ooooo..what wouldn’t I use this for at Lowes! I would love to repaint our dining room and hallway and add some new curtains and a mirror. I love that I could get all those items at Lowes. Love their stuff.

  354. Wow, that’s a huge giveaway!
If I won, I would probably repaint my master suite, both secondary bathrooms, kitchen and dining room. Then, if I had any leftover money, maybe tackle the kitchen cabinets?! Sooo many possibilities!

  355. I could totally use that gift card! We’re currently in the process of buying a house and moving, so 250 dollars to Lowe’s would be awesome for some patio furniture or stuff for the craft room. Thanks for such an awesome giveaway!

  356. I would probably splurge on new outdoor furniture. I don’t need it, but it would sure be fun!

  357. My wife showed me your site to show me some projects she wants me to do. The gift card would be awesome.

  358. Ooh, that would be a dream! I would stock up on primer, paints and finishes for all the projects I hope to refinish (clear) out of my garage and into my home. :) And accent with beautiful plants to add to a couple more planters in my front yard. (I LOVE all the gorgeous color) Oh, and of course, I’ll need a few extra sand paper sheets for my sander because I will burn through at least 2 of them to complete all the projects I do have. :) Thanks, Kate!

  359. I would give it to my daughter and her new husband. They purchased their first home and it is a fixer upper. They are saving for new carpet in the bedrooms, tile in the kitchen and bath and wood for their living areas. Lots of work for someone starting out. But I think its lots of fun!

  360. We love Lowe’s! I want to add a board & batten treatment up my stairwell, so I’d use the gift card to get started with this project. Thanks!

  361. I just purchased my first home :) I have 5 kids and I have been redoing bedrooms, boys room is next and its a pretty small space, I need storage solutions and paint, this would be perfect!

  362. 100% would go to my master bath! It’s been on the backburner for 10 years as we’ve renovated everything else. I need tile, lighting, a new faucet, a frame around the giant mirror, and paint and lattice to fix up my chipped MDF cabinetry. I’m ready for it to be redone!

  363. thanks for such a sweet giveaway! I would put the money towards tile floors for the bathrooms and say goodbye to that hideous vinyl foreva!!

  364. Goodness he’s adorable. Ok, now that i have that out of the way, I would put that gift card to work transforming my guest bedroom. I’ve been in the house 8 years and I haven’t painted it yet. So sad. I need to make it a multifunction space, guest room, the pup’s bedroom and a sewing space for me. I have a campaign dresser I picked up cheap at an estate sale, now I just have to figure out the rest of the stuff. A lot of paint will be needed so I could definitely find ways to spend $250 at Lowes. Thanks so much and welcome home!

  365. My whole 1st floor is “builder beige” and needs COLOR! The guest 1/2 bath also needs a total new look (beadbord or board & batten & new paint, build new vanity, tile floor). Kitchen cabinets need to change to white from standard builder grade oak. $250 would go a long way to making any of these happen!

  366. Oh where to start? I’d use it to buy pavers to finally finish our patio or maybe some tile for the bathroom.

  367. I would use it to finish off my recent kitchen remodel. I still need to add a new lighting fixture above the table.

  368. Wow! When doing updates on my own home I’m always torn between “practical” and “pretty! With $250 to spend I could do both! I’d buy a new toilet to replace my water hog from 1968!! And have enough left over to paint my bedroom and hallway. I love almost every green out there but want to soften the greens I have.
How cool to spend time with the nicest guy in America!

  369. Goodness! My husband and I are remodeling several areas of our house now and we shop at Lowes several times a week because of it. We could definitely use the $250 gift card. We would probably spend it on paint and various building materials. We are converting a walk in attic into an extra bedroom and remodeling the kitchen, so we certainly have lots of supplies to get :)

  370. No doubt! I would paint my family room & kitchen since they join together as one room. And if I have anything left over I’d get started on my outdoor patio projects.

  371. I am planning to repaint my living room/dining room/entry/hallway which is one continuous space and will take a lot of paint, so a $250 gift card would go a long way. The trim and ceiling could also badly use a fresh coat of paint, the current paint job is at least 8 years old but the trim and ceiling haven’t been painted in over 10 years! Ugh.

  372. Thank you for the lovely giveaway!
Oh what wouldn’t I do?!? First I would buy an adorable fan for our little girl’s nursery. Then I would use the rest to help defer the enormous costs of completely remodeling our backyard so that it loses it’s swamp beast look. This would help so much, we have had to put the project almost completely on hold for financial reasons!

  373. I’m in the middle of repainting my entire house and sprucing it up before my sister and her family comes to visit in June. I haven’t seen them in over four years so I want my house to look perfect! =)

  374. What a wonderful offer!
We are in the process of adding hardwood flooring to our dining room. The gift card would be great for this project.
    Thanks Kate, Thanks Lowes!

  375. IF I were to win the $250 – I would be able to finish making the bed of my dreams! I’ve already managed a headboard from old closet doors – I just need some “$$” to finish building a platform for the bed and headboard to attach it to. You know, one of those ‘fancy’ looking beds with maybe storage underneath. Oh yeah – I want it all! :D

  376. Paint! I am working on my daughter’s room now and have 3 kids to go after that. Lastly, is MY bedroom which I’m looking for a warm grey color.

  377. so many options – new tile for bathroom floors, beadboard, wood to do board and batten in other bathroom – all things bathroom.

  378. I am painting my house so I would buy paint and then some mulch as I need to finish my yard.

  379. I love walking thru Lowe’s and getting tons of ideas for all parts of my house. Since my bathroom is the current project, I guess that is where I would have to spend the money!

  380. There are so many ways I’d use that Lowe’s gift card! My bedroom needs to be painted (hasn’t been painted in 11 years!), I’d also re-paint my living room (currently re-decorating it), and I’d use the rest to buy a screen door for my back entry (I already found the door I want at Lowe’s!)

  381. Would definitely use it to start overhauling my outdoor space. Need paint, an outdoor ceiling fan, and a new deck.

  382. My husband and I just purchased our first real home and this $250 would help us so much as the entire interior has to be repainted and needs new flooring and lighting!! And of course, we are DIYers so we will be tackling all of these projects by ourselves with supplied from Lowe’s!! Thanks Centsational Girl :)

  383. If I won the $250 gift card, first I would redo my dining table since its looks like a picnic table by retaining it, tiling the top so I don’t have to use a table cloth(i dislike them) and then would add cushion and fabric to the top of the benches. Next I have to end tables that I’ve found at odds and end places and would strip them, and end up painting them a gray or violet color with an elegant pattern on them. Then I would uses matching hardware to make them look like they belong together so my husband and I would have nightstands for out bedroom. Since currently our bed is only on rails I would then make a fabric headboard and make it extremely long in order to add height to our room. I’m still looking for a dresser to redo but eventually when i’ve found the perfect one that would be redone as well. After the necessities were finished, I’d like to father material to build my son a little school desk so, he has a place to do little activities when he is down stairs and we are cooking and need to be able to see him.

  384. I linked to this giveaway through facebook and am crossing my fingers!

  385. I’d start with new paint for the kitchen and then our family room. Both need to be updated with some color.
Then I’d probably turn to the patio to make it nice for the summer.

  386. $250 would really help buy paint. We’re getting ready to put our house up for sale.

  387. Well, I have an order of paint samples on its way to me right now – through 5/16, Lowe’s paint samples are buy one get one free, and they ship free! – so I’d pick the paints for our new house (kitchen, living room, dining room, master…doin’ it all!) and get going!

  388. I would repaint the master bedroom, paint the bookshelves in the dining room, and do several pieces in the mirrored finish look (like the desk you linked to several months ago) AND I want to experiment with the colors of gray and gray chalk paint. I would like to paint my kitchen cabinets and refinish the formica counter top with the Rustoleum counter kit! I have several pieces that need paint. I would share all of the pics with you since you are the inspiration that has started my desire to freshen up on a budget :)

    http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f88/CrzyBeeAuTiFuL/bed.jpg
((picture of my headboard I made!!))

  390. We haven’t done anything to the boring walls since we moved into this house 3 years ago. So, my whole house is in need of a new fresh coat of paint and the $250 gift card will come in handy!! Any leftover $ will be used to update the bathroom fixtures. :)

  391. I am moving into a new apartment in a few weeks! I have lots of DIY projects planned to make the place look nice. And, I’m a very broke college student, so any amount of many would be super helpful!

  392. My husband and I just purchased our first real home and this gift card would definitely come in handy!! The entire interior needs to be repainted and it needs all new flooring and lighting as well!!! Of course, since we are DIYers we will be tackling all of the projects ourselves with supplies from Lowe’s and inspiration from Centsational Girl :)

  393. New Crown & panel moulding for the master + some Valspar Hi Def Paint to finish the job!

  394. PICK ME PICK ME! lol. I would get some paint for my walls and items for bead boarding in my dining room. I would also pick up a nail gun with an air compressor. Also, if there was any money left over (ha) I’d pick up some lawn furniture. :)

  395. Just bought a house so I have MANY projects to use the gift card for, but mostly we need tools!!

  396. How fun!! Looks like you had fun in New york!
I would buy a microwave if I win the giftcard! lol
seriously we don’t have a microwave at the moment.
Since we are still remodeling our kitchen we ran out of money and now I dont’ have a microwave or a dishwasher! :(

  397. Wow! What wouldn’t I spend this on!?!? But if I had to pick, probably a new patio set! I can imagine that the gift card is burning a hole in your pocket! I hope it will be burning a hole in mine very soon:-)

  398. I am hoping to so a revamp of my basement den/office/schoolroom this summer and that would be a wonderful help!

  399. I would use it to buy all the supplies I need to install board and batten in my son’s room!

  400. Ooooh, would buy paint for our bathroom at home – in the midst of changing it (and some new drawer and cabinet fixtures). Also, paint for a spare bedroom at our up north house that I want to make nice and “cottage-y.” And, have an old jelly cabinet that I would like to try my hand at painting, maybe for my daughter’s room. And…. who knows what else! :-) Love your blog! Great inspiration!

  401. I would paint, paint, paint! We have a new construction house that we have had to wait a year before we could paint (for warranty/touch-up reasons). Now that the time is up, I’m ready for some color! Bring on the Valspar!

  402. I would repaint almost every room in my house!!!! *correction: My husband and I will repaint almost every room in our house! :0)

  403. Oh, where to start! Probably with new outdoor lights for my doors. They were removed a year ago, and haven’t been replaced yet.

  404. I would use the gift card for new lighting in my guest room, nice giveaway!

  405. I’d love to paint our living room! My kids use it as their playroom, but with four white walls, it’s simply not kid-friendly. Time to pop some color and fun into life! :-)

  406. I would buy tons of Valspar paint and re-paint my living room and sitting room with the gift card!!!

  407. I would love to transform two very old brown wood dressers (that were my husband’s a child) into a fresh and modern wardrobe and change table for a nursery. Your recent post on how to do this will serve as my guide:) We’re planning for a family and are so excited to share some baby news in the very near future!

  408. Oh I would love to win this. I desperately need to paint my kitchen cabinets. They are builder standard and 16 years old. Love your site!

  409. My oh my! $250 gift card! I am in the process of renovating my bedroom…and I mean, drywall on the ceiling, cedar siding on the walls, a new closet and shelving. So I would use it on the crisp white paint for my walls, a pendant lighting hardware, paint for my night stands and lamps, and the gorgeous crystal knobs to finish off my fathers dresser that he refinished and passed on to me before he passed away. The knobs are exactly what this masculine dresser needs in my femanine room.

  410. I would use it to buy some new lights for our landscaping since the tornados demolished our old ones.

  411. I would use the gift card to replenish my dwindling stock of spray paint along with some updated bright colors for summer, then I would use the rest to purchase some flowers and greenery to spruce up my yard with some color!

  412. I would love to win! I would probably get an outdoor rug for our deck!

  413. Love the color inspiration ideas! And you got to spend time with Nate. How cool! Would love to spend some money at Lowe’s on new items for my patio.

  414. baby girl on the way so it would go towards her room! thanks for the giveaway :)

  415. WOW, I would absolutely start the daunting task of redecorating (scratch that, decorating for the first time) our apartment. It’s pretty plain and needs some real Lowe’s lovin’!

  416. I would use it for our new house that we are updating, or the new container garden.

  417. Oh how I would love to win the $250 gift card. I am an amatuer DIYer and have the need for flooring in my room and want so badly to do the plywood plank floor I have seen all over blog land. This $250 would come in handy to purchase the materials and I am a huge LOWE’S lover!

    Lisa

  418. I would absolutely use the gift card to paint every single room in the house we just bought! =)

  419. Wow, that event sounds like a TON of fun! And you are so nice…giving your prize away! If I win, I would use it for paint, some MDF and various wood pieces and trim, and a good sander. I could spend hours in Lowe’s! Thanks again for the giveaway!

  420. I would redo the ugly, unfinished utility/laundry room in our basement! And I’d send you the before and after!

  421. Big fan of your blog! Great giveaway! Need tons of paint! I have 5 boys,3 different themed bedrooms to paint. Also 2 bunkbeds,4 dressers,3 nightstands and a bookcase that all need a facelift to complete their rooms.

  422. I’d paint my new craft room and the cement floor. For the walls I’m thinking “martha” aqua and I’m tempted to either do a chevron or stencil on the floor in gray & white. Thanks for a chance to win & congrats on attending this cool event with the fantastic & adorable Nate!

  423. I’d do some fixing up to some old furniture for our new house!

  424. What wouldn’t I put that giftcard towards. I have about a million projects on my summer to do list.

  425. I would love to use it in my Twin girls’ room. They are now 7 months and we are still not finished with their nursery!!

  426. I actually found a link to Centsationalgirl from the Jones Design Company website a few weeks ago and have been in love with the project gallery ideas ever since. I moved into a new apartment back in January and have since been trying to make it feel like home. We have an enormous patio and I believe that your outdoor space is just as important as your indoor space and both should represent YOU. I’ve added globe lights and some lounge chairs but the one thing that was missing is a table and chairs. I’ve been saving this beat up bistro set in my parents attic for a few years now telling myself that I would fix it up one day… well the time has come. The project gallery DIY on fixing up an outdoor table gave me the push I needed to finally fix up that table. I would use the Lowes gift card on all items needed to fix up my bistro set and a few additions to turn the patio into my oasys.

  427. I desperately need paint! I’d paint my kids’ rooms as well as a whole bunch of furniture that needs updating. Thanks!

  428. I just bought a new house and the projects are endless! I would either spend the money on kitchen appliances or supplies for a stone deck in the backyard.

  429. I’d love Lowe’s gift card to spruce up our front entrance way!

  430. i would give the gift cert to my daughter. she will be building a new nest in manhatten with her boyfriend in july. he is moving back from cali (bi coastal relationship for past year and half) he is a physcis teacher and he does not have a job right now. she is addicted to decorating and could use the money. she is i big fan of ‘centsational girl’.

  431. Oh my goodness, I would love to win! I would use it to buy materials to add some built-in lockers/cubbies and board and batten to my mudroom!

  432. Thank you for the great giveaway! I would use the gift card on a few plants I have had my eye on and to spruce up each room in the house!

  433. I would buy some paint and light fixtures. We are in desperate need to replace an old, ugly, builder’s grade chandelier!

  434. I’ve been eying a dremel tool for a while now – this would more than cover one! I’ve also been meaning to paint the bedroom forever…

  435. I would remodel my bedroom. We bought this house 5 years ago, and it is the only room in the house I haven’t touched – and it needs it SO BAD – early 90’s flowered wallpaper in teal and magenta, with magenta painted trim – HELP!! :-)

  436. I just moved into a great new apartment but it could use some paint on all the beige walls!

  437. I would use it to finish up the nursery for the twin girls I am currently 29 weeks pregnant with…

  438. I have all these ideas running through my head to spruce up my bathroom; however, money keeps running out so I have to keep putting it off. I would use the gift certificate to buy paint, shelving, light fixtures, etc.

  439. The list is really endless but some plants and front porch goodies to spruce it up would be wonderful. Thank you!!

  440. I’d use it to build a Stratton storage bed Pottery Barn knock-off (by Ana White). Thanks!

  441. Hi, I would love to win this and right now I would go to the outdoor section at Lowe’s. I’m thinking some new outdoor pillows and perhaps a hammock for relaxin and maybe some new large pots for my boxwoods-they need new digs. Hoping I win!!! Thanks for the give-away, very generous of you!

  442. I have 2 medicine cabinets that I want to refinish – I’d use the Lowe’s card to buy a palm sander and whatever else I need for the project. These are my first big projects so I need all the help I can get!

  443. I would buy a new area rug for my living room as my “other” spilled an ENTIRE BOTTLE OF SWEET CHILI SAUCE all over my beautiful hand woven pottery barn wool rug. Surprisingly I muffled the scream.

  444. We just moved in January and my room is this ugly old white colour. Not pretty white, just plain white. So, I’d like to do something to add colour to the room. Maybe repaint my dresser that I’ve had since I was born! Give it a nice blue and purple combo! And paint the shelves the room came with!

  445. Two things: Paint and plants! My patio and front deck definitely need to be freshened up with some plant life and my upstairs hallway and bathroom are in dire need of some color!

  446. I’d spend the GC on paint :-) and an orbital sander. and brushes. and……. Thanks for the chance to win!

  447. I would use this Lowe’s gift card to continue working on my first home. I bought the home over a year ago and find myself so inspired by your blog every day for ways to make my home beautiful on a budget. The ideas and creativity you sink into every aspect of your home, shows the love you have for your family and friends, but most of all for life. I crave that same sense of peace. And I look forward to your blog daily.

  448. Kate, what a fun event with Melissa! (and Nate!)
You are both so awesome to giveaway your winnings – thanks for the chance!
$250 at Lowes…..where to start? How about towards a new washer & dryer? My washer just flooded our bathroom and I’m in desperate need!

  449. Lemonade stand/outdoor puppet theater! I would love to try some of the high definition paint. I think I would get a fun color or two & some supplies to make a small wood structure that could be a lemonade stand/outdoor puppet theater for my 7 yr old daughter to use this summer. That would be really fun & provide hours of fun & entertainment for years to come! I could make the structure & leave a way to have a removable curtain for the puppet shows! A reversible sign to hang on front would tell what the structure would be used for each time! She would be soooo excited!

  450. I would finally get some plants and pots for the outdoor porch along with a much needed rug!

  451. Looks like it was a fun evening! I would love a gift card to Lowe’s. I would definitely pick up some paint for an armoire and the walls and trim in our guest room. Fresh brushes and rollers would sure come in handy too. Thanks for the chance!

  452. Love your web site! And I have a very large, white pantry door in my kitchen. I would love to do the entire door in magnetic and chalkboard paint and trim it out in molding. So fun for me and my kids! But, dang, that magnetic primer and chalkboard paint are not cheap!

  453. so many things…it would be between redo for bathroom, paint for outside, nail gun…it would go to a good use for sure!

  454. I would use the card to decorate the new home we are moving to next week!

  455. I would buy supplies to build a firepit in my backyard! Also buy lots and lots of paint to spruce up our new house!

  456. Oh, the projects are endless! We just bought our first home and could definitely use it towards any room in our home :) I think I would start by buying paint for the whole house then the supplies for a headboard and possibly (if there is anything left) my husband always wants to add to his tool collection :)

  457. Love the giveaways — keep them coming! My husband is currently building lots of storage space in the house, so we’ve been making lots of trips to Lowes

  458. I am closing on my Condo next week, and the walls are all eggshell white color (or something close to it). I would use it to buy paint so each room has it’s own style/feel.

  459. I am so glad you were able to go to New York. How fun to see Nats Berkus. I would use the gift cars to Lai.t my girls bathroom and add some board and batten on the walls. I’m dying to redo it. ThAnks for another great giveaway

  460. Good Morning Centsational Girl~ I get so much enjoyment reading your blog each day. You show all of us how to do a lot with a little! My husband and l are retired and don’t have a lot of extra money to decorate. We have a small cozy home, although short on entertaining areas. What l would do with the Lowe’s gift card would be to paint my attached garage, the walls as well as the floor. It’s important to both of us when our kids and grand kids come to visit there is some set-aside play space. I imagine setting up a ping pong table, possibly another small table for games and puzzles. My imagination is taking over now, thinking how fun this space could be. Again, that you for all the great ideas..Gail

  461. I think I would use it on the backyard. I want to put in some fencing to keep the dogs out of the garden and I’d like to put more flowers and veggies in the yard. Oh, $250 could go so far!

  462. This is a giveaway I can really enjoy. I’ve been wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets white so this would really get me going in the right direction.

  463. Oh goodness, with $250 gift card to Lowes I would get paint for our master bedroom and bathroom, I would buy new hardware for our dresser, and probably a new light fixture or 2 around the house!!

  464. OMG! What wouldn’t I do with it! We just moved in and we need everything! I don’t even have a light in the kitchen at the moment! :/ So….is he in cute in person???

  465. I would buy new patio furniture or other garden/outdoor things, especially really pretty sparkly things!

  466. I’d love to put it towards some new french doors to replace our (broken) sliding arcadia door! Thanks for the awesome giveaway! And Nate is such a cutie, you lucky duck! ;)

  467. I just bought a new house 1 week ago. What wouldn’t I use the card for? =)

I’ll be tackling the master bedroom soon. Everything (walls, ceiling, trim) is the same color. There is no bedroom door. There are no window treatments (not even blinds). And the light fixture is super basic and cheap. A second floor bedroom in Austin, TX really needs a ceiling fan.

  468. What an awesome giveaway. We just moved into a new house that needs a lot of work. I’ve finally determined some of my color choices and now it’s just finding the funds to do it! I’d love to win.

  469. I would maybe get a new master bath toilet as we cannot figure out why it wont stop running water all the time and possibly start painting our nursery-to-be on a budget. :)

  470. Love Lowe’s and love your site! I’m a recent work at home convert so I’m transforming one of my bedrooms into a home office. I’ve scoured the internet for ideas and become quite the fan of all the hand and helpful information…..your blog/site being one of the best! You’re on my “
