Weekend Reading 7.9.23

By Kate Riley July 9, 2023

I’m in Florida this week on a road trip, we’re driving from the gulf coast to the east coast to see a few new towns there. It’s nice to be back swimming in the coastal waters! We’re exploring St. Augustine on this trip, it’s the oldest settlement in the USA, so I’m looking forward to seeing the architecture and reading up on the history.

We’re still planning on making a full time move but waiting until early 2025 to give us more time to prepare to make a cross country jump. We will rent our Florida house out to snowbirds in the winter of 2024 so if you know anyone looking to rent from January to May in the Sarasota/Siesta Key area, email me!

  1. I was a bit surprised that Zillow spoke about gray paint
and I have to wonder when their “survey” was done.
In my neck of the woods any house that has gray paint on walls and/or cabinets is a sure sign it is a flip and unfortunately not the best flip.
It is depressing and not a good look for some of the older homes that have smaller windows and less natural light.

    • Exactly what I thought! How old is this survey? We moved from Seattle 5 years ago. We toured a lot of homes for sale to see how to prepare to sell our own home. So much dreary gray and open shelving in the kitchen!!! So many flips. I couldn’t stand it. Our house was mostly blues and greens. We just freshened the same colors and had great responses.
