Weekend Reading 6.4.23

By Kate Riley June 4, 2023

I feel like I finally got my groove back after being away for a week. I had a nice time in Florida and now I see summer is a season to reset. Both my teens are living in our house this summer so I get to spend more time with them and I have no vacation plans other than little excursions around my local town. I spent most of last summer in Florida and have taken a few wonderful trips in recent months, but now it’s time to enjoy being at home June through August.

So far things are going well at my new art shop, I sold five of my ceramic pieces over the weekend in addition to a few art prints, that was lovely. I have my focus on a few projects around our house, we’re updating the kitchen with some open shelving and replacing the countertops to give it a refresh. I’m helping my daughter organize her room and get ready to move to Santa Barbara for her next year of school. The landscaping and courtyard also need some updating so I’m working on that as well. It feels good to have a few months to focus on those spaces and spend periods of time relaxing before the busyness of autumn arrives.

  1. Same with me!! I so look forward to this Weekend Reading post. I also enjoy reading the tidbits about your life. I live just a little south of you, in Monterey County. I also have teens in college, but they are not coming home this summer. Thank you for everything that you share. I really do enjoy your blog so much, I work as an elementary school teacher, here in Salinas. I have the summer off and like you, I’m just going to enjoy my own area, and if I travel, it’s just going to be nothing further than two hours or so away. I would love to come visit your shop. My cousin lives in Novato, and when I go visit her next month, I hope I can stop in and meet you in person. Good luck with everything!

    • thank you so much Jamie! please do come visit me up north, and enjoy your summer of relaxation close to home. :)
