Finally I have my hands on a renovation project! This is a 1200 square foot 2 bedroom 2 bath duplex with a small patio, in need of a top to bottom makeover. I’ll share more “before” pictures in the weeks to come as I tackle these spaces.
Here’s a peek at the rear patio where I’ll be building a privacy fence to enclose this open space and create an outdoor room. There are neighbors on three sides, so a privacy fence makes perfect sense.
My plan is to build one, but I need to submit plans to the homeowner’s association so I’m working on those now. I gathered some inspiring ideas for privacy fences just in case you’re looking to build one too! The slatted versions provide some shade but also allow for airflow.

Love that you’re going to add useable outdoor space! But when I look at all the crisp painted versions, all I can envision is the maintenance of constantly repainting. If I was a potential buyer, I would certainly appreciate the natural wood versions. Can’t wait to ride along for this makeover!

Love these ideas for privacy fences. As a carpenter, I love seeing new ideas I could offer to clients. Will definitely be referring people to your post for ideas. The slatted horizontal fence is my favorite.
