Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley December 15, 2018

Holiday hellos friends! Tonight’s is the last of the holiday parties to attend, then I’m going to settle in for a week of preparation before Christmas arrives.

My brother and his family will be visiting from the east coast next week, and I’m really excited to see them since they live so far away. No one makes me laugh harder than my older brother Tim so I’m looking forward to hearing his stories and sharing meals with him, his wife, and his teenagers.

  1. I disagree with #8 as well. Open shelving is super convenient. You don’t want everything exposed and getting dusty. Open shelves below counter level are also no bueno is you have pets. But having everyday items right to hand works really well.

  2. Rediscovering my daughter through Instagram was touching. My daughter is 28, married for 3 years now and well into her career. She has always been very social and has so many friends and a very full life. My heart aches with the time I no longer have with her. I somehow believed my daughter would be mine forever and really did not have that expectation of my sons. I am thankful for social media so that I know what she is doing and can see her happiness.

  3. Open shelving can be a great opportunity for design! Artfully arranged everyday dishes, cookbooks, houseplants – that will never go out of style! Thanks for the great list!!
