Blue Painted Bath Vanities

By Kate Riley February 22, 2017

I’m looking at the pedestal in my powder room and considering swapping it out for a small vanity with storage. (I hate having the TP out in the open). I started looking around for a petite vanity, deciding if I want to stick with wood or go with a painted version.

I’m drawn to grays but also blues, that color always looks perfectly at home in a bathroom. Must be because bathrooms are that space that are filled with water. :) I stumbled on some beautiful blue painted vanities in different hues. I searched through all of my fan decks for blues that are similar, so if you like any of these shades of blue I offered up a few paint color suggestions to get the look.

  1. Love the blues. Deeper shades are so striking. I am sitting on the fence about a cabinet that I want to paint. Blue it will be. Thanks for moving me off that fence.

  2. Number 1 and number 2- LOVE. And those floors in both…maybe that’s why I love the vanities. We are about to redo our powder room. Perfect timing!

  3. I love all the colors! What type of sheen or paint do you recommend purchasing if one is painting their bathroom vanity aside from the mulling and internal debating of one’s color choices?

    • Painters recommend semigloss for walls because of its greater washability so the same rule could apply to vanity. If you’re not a fan of glossy finishes you’d be fine with an eggshell finish but I’d suggest a clear coat of wax to protect the paint or even a matte water based polyurethane on top for a long lasting and well protected finish.

  4. Thank you for this post! I’m planning a bathroom remodel in our cabin, and had been thinking of a painted vanity. I don’t know why the idea of a blue vanity hadn’t occured to me, especially since I recently painted our kitchen island blue (SW Salty Dog). These are beautiful!

  5. Perfect timing, Kate. We have a 40″ wide vanity in our tiny powder room. I was thinking of replacing it with a pedestal sink, but I like the storage underneath. Thank you for showing so many beautiful options. Ours is sandwiched between two walls like many of your examples.

I might prefer it to be a little taller though. What height range do you think works best for a bathroom vanity?

  6. I love the deep teal vanity. Can you tell me where you got the vanity itself?
