Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley June 27, 2015

Weekend hellos! June is flying by isn’t it? I confess I’m in full summer mode, the fans are whirring around the house, the mornings are a bit lazier, and the evenings are relaxed and thankfully event free.

As a result, I’ve been completely hooked on Grand Hotel on Netflix, have you seen it? I cannot stop watching! I’ve finished Season 1and I’m looking forward to Seasons 2 and 3, the TV series is set in Spain in 1905, the details of the hotel are beautiful inside and out, you catch glimpses of the spaces behind the activities of both sweet and sinister characters interacting together, it’s a bit soap opera at times but I just love it.

  1. I recently finished the Grand Hotel series. I loved it. Thank goodness for Netflix.

  2. Thanks for the recommendation for the Grand Hotel! This series is right up my alley and I’ve been looking for something new to watch on Netflix. I’ve had this saved on my list for awhile but never chose it when scrolling through. Glad to hear such good things about it!

  3. Like I posted on Instagram already, I am obsessed with that show. I finished it a week ago and am so sad but I couldn’t function unless I finished it. I really wasn’t a good role model to my kids because I was glued to my iPad. Besides the awesome story line, the eye candy certainly has something to do with it as well. ;)

  4. Thanks for the Netflix recommendation! I was beginning to think I was going to have to delve into the whole Orange is the Game of Thrones stuff, which I have been consciously avoiding. :-)

    • Ha Ellen, I couldn’t get into those shows either, tried but couldn’t make it past the first three episodes.

  5. Loved your Weekend reading article on June 27…….where did you snag the slipcover for the sofa? OR did you make it? Please let me know as I am seriously trying to find something just like that for both a standard size couch and love-seat. If you indeed made it do you sell the pattern for it?

    Thanks much!

  6. Hey Kate, it seems like you are enjoying the summer a lot, after reading your post it makes me feel like ‘leave the work, go and sleep, get relaxed and enjoy your life. ha ha ha ha this was really very amazing.

  7. I finished watching Grand Hotel. You should watch another Spanish serial on Netflix called “Velvet”. I guess you will like it too.

  8. Thanks for the heads up about Grand Hotel. I was wondering what I was going to watch next, as I just finished the latest season of Orange is the New Black and then just started Grace & Frankie (so-so). Grand Hotel sounds like it will be right up my alley.

  9. Grand Hotel. If Downton Abbey and a Spanish soap opera had a baby, it would be this gem. Haha. Currently addicted ;) Your home is as lovely as ever. Love.

  10. I just finished Grand Hotel and am so sad it’s over. I really loved it :)
