Hi everyone. It’s late in the day but I wanted to pop in to say I’m taking this week off for Spring Break. I go offline every few months, it helps me recharge and avoid burn out. I’m here in Las Vegas catching some rays for a few days but I’m working too, just not online. I’m photographing the final prints for the spring fabric collection and it’s coming together so well, I’m excited to share the new patterns with you next week.
This quote resonates with me right now since it is takes bravery to present your original designs to the world. You’ve got to trust in yourself to express your personal style, and I’m a big believer in putting yourself out there come what may – creativity does take courage. And isn’t the world much more interesting with artists that do just that? I think so. :)
I’ll be back next week with much to share, see you then.
…
Kate, I love the way you let us know you will be away for the week. Other bloggers I read just disappear for weeks on end which of course they are entitled to do but checking their blogs time after time to see the same article gets annoying. Your consideration for your readers sets you apart from the crowd and makes you in my opinion number one.
Enjoy your break Kate – I admire your self care in avoiding burnout where so many of us (ahem) wait until it’s too late. You’re inspiring!
Enjoy your break. Sounds warm and sunshiney in Las Vegas. We need some warmth here in NY. Thanks for the great quote-love it :)
I have a design question about window treatments in the kitchen. Elaborate valances were the norm for some time but now my beautiful fringed valances are looking heavy and dated. But I don’t see much attention to that area to know what my choices are. The room really needs the color and softness that fabric provides as opposed to blinds or bare windows. I really don’t see many options in the big box stores. Maybe you could offer suggestions in a post on some updated fabric options?
Thank you so much Alison, very kind of you to say.
Great question Roberta! These articles might inspire you with some alternative ideas:

Have a great Spring Break. Is the weather nicer in Las Vegas than here? Alison in Santa Rosa.
